I am a Airtel Postpaid Mobile user since a very long time now. and one day I was told through there Thanks app that There Fiber Broadband comes with an Landline Service in my area.
This has Impressed me, and I have booked a new Airtel Fiber Connection and it got Installed the very same day.
I Received my Airtel Landline number through an Email from Airtel and the email says I got Free unlimited calling all over the country.
I was so Excited about this, and I bought a new Telephone set to connect to the landline Service which I will be getting from Airtel.
I connected the phone, and there is no dial tone. I am unable to make calls, and no incoming as well.
I tried Calling My Landline Number provided by airtel from my Mobile, and to my shock it says the Number is not valid.
I have Immediately Called the guy who Installed the connection and told him about this, and to my shock this guy says, Airtel wont provide any landline service. its only Internet what they provide.
I shone him my plan details on there airtel thanks app, and on there website airtel.in and also in the Email I received from airtel.
but this guy still says that its only Internet what they provide and there is nothing like landline from airtel.
Then I called airtel customer care and booked a complaint regarding my fake landline number provided by the airtel. this time the customer care guys said, the landline number i got from airtel is valid and they are going to send there technician to fix the problem with in 24 hours.
the very next day I got a call from the same guy who installed the connection and he still says the same. this time with a rood voice. he sir I already told you that you will only get Internet and nothing else. no landline nothing and the have cut the call on my face.
as soon as he cuts the call, I got an SMS from airtel saying that my complained is closed.
I dint give up. I have booked a complaint again with airtel, and this time, they have closed my complaint without even calling me.
I still dint give up. I kept on booking complaints Repeatedly and they use to close my complaints Repeatedly without solving my landline problem.
I got tired of it, and posted all this things on there facebook and twitter pages.
now, again airtel guys booked multiple ticket's on my landline number and promised me that my problem will be solved with in 24 hours.
but no, it dint. again all those complaints got closed without any fix. they din't even contacted me while they are closing my tickets.
but still I dint give up, I kept on posting on there facebook and twitter pages about my landline thing, and you know what? this time airtel Surprises me saying that they only provide landline service in few locations and they do not provide any landline service at my location.
I asked them if it is the case, then y I was told that I will be getting a landline service along with my Broadband plan? Y I was told that there is an unlimited calling with my plan?
Then y I was given a landline number?
and trust me, they have no answer to any of my questions. and since then airtel has stopped responding to my posts on facebook and twitter.
later, I got to know that I am not alone who got cheated in the name of landline by airtel. there are many customers all over the country.
This is a open Scam by airtel.
People, stay away from this cheater company.
Dear Airtel, Stop Playing with Peoples Trust.
This shows What Kind of Management Airtel has.
The Fake Landline Number Provided to me by Airtel is: 08689468736.

@sbhokray everyone has been allotted the landline number(even me), its just that airtel has not started this service except a few tier-1 cities. I contacted my area manager and he said nationwide landline is expected to be launched in feb-march.

and I was also Informed by airtel Officially that my landline services are activated and I can make calls.
is that not misleading?
Happened to me also, some of the representatives are underinformed and they lodge a complaint without checking whether landline is available in our area or not.

i am not sure what the point of keeping this thread open now. i closed it because it was going around in circles. problem is confirmed. there is no resolution. it is public. it is even highlighted as the most popular thread on the forum homepage. is there any reason why one has to keep repeating the same thing again and again?

@Bucky not the representative. I got an official email from airtel saying that the landline services got activated and i can make calls.
its only after I got that email i happen to disconnect my landline from BSNL.
my point is, why they are misleading the customers by fooling them like this.

@Sushubh
Whats wrong in keeping this Tread open?
for me, I want to keep this tread opened cause I can give timely updates here as am not going to keep calm on airtel.
We respect your forum rules. but you controlling when to speak, when to stop and for how long to speak is not fare.

Update
after sending Multiple emails since many days, I again got the same reply from airtel saying that they tried reaching me but there is no response from my end.
and they were asking for the alternate numbers and suitable time.
in fact in my last email I have mentioned 3 alternate numbers knowing that this will be a common thing you got to hear from airtel whev ever you contact them to deal with any problem.
however, this time i gave them the time and also 2 mobile numbers to contact me and i am sitting with the phones in hand just waiting for the calls from airtel.

While your indignation is understood you're wasting time chasing them. If it's not feasible from their infra or other perspective they will not provision a landline. This issue has been caused by the LCO's false promise. He should have checked feasibility before making a commitment.

@Chip its not the LCO promise, its directly from the airtel through there website, app and email.
I am not blaming LCO here, because there is nothing they do here, its just they setup and maintain the main lines and nothing else.
airtel should clearly mention that they do not provide landline in the plan details on there website, app and they should not send any emails to customers like there landline number got activated and they can make calls.

Its likely that Airtel will treat you like Musaddi Lal from Office Office. Since you have documents to support your case, you can go to consumer court.

Let me tell you something about Airtel, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing..one guy from the sales team or LCO will make the promise but the technical/backend team will turn it down and after that its game over. You're just breaking your head for no reason and TBH posts on this forum aren't going to help you get a landline number either :)

We get the point and your angst...I have seen Airtel screw up several times already in my case and have exchanged many emails with 121 and their escalation team. Also remember, consumer court isn't an option because they aren't charging you anything for the landline considering it's a free add-on facility to the broadband in some areas and cities. Yes, you can go to the CC as a right, but you're wasting your time energy and possibly money. At the end you have a choice, discontinue Airtel and go back to BSNL if a landline is so important to you. This is the best way to show your displeasure.

Tata Play Fibre started off with free landline numbers for all subscribers but have changed their policies to only include it with 300, 500 and 1G plans. If you opt for a 200 or lower plan they charge you Rs 100/month for the facility. So they skimmed the market offering landlines and other freebies and then changed policies after some years to earn more money.

We customers are taken for granted by most companies.
