The Ridiculous Airtel Broadband Plans

[/list]i dont download much, since i either svn or git or rsync or bzr the source code and then compile it than downloading huge binaries. but i dont find any ultra highspeed from airtel either, which is economical.
for me getting the source code fast is critical than downloading torrents. i wish airtel had something for users like us. who wishes to use the internet judiciously. i get a marketing bonanza when i dial 121 other than that its just a pure gimmick. i need a faster ISP w/o caps and ceilings, caps okay, since git the kernel and svn and bzr and rsync or cvs is all i do. and then rest is editing source code. thats it. for that i feel i am paying too much for too less. suggestions? any?
which ISP does a better job? i am bored with airtel and their marketing buff, boink boink!

p.s. this month i reached 24.9 G, other months i remain within 20 G even better 16 G.

How much moolah are you "donating" to airtel for this? I suggest you downgrade your tariff plan if your usage is low.

2999 INR, home freedom plan. old plan i suppose. it was 2500, 2600+ after tax now thanks to fare hike its 3000 INR. i woule be happy if its like 16 Mbps with 50 GB, since i only download source, biggest hit was linux kernel via git a few 100 MB. else svn/git openwrt and other embedded stuffs. thats about it. plus youtube electronics soldering videos, and sundays/saturdays beer + p0rn only if workload is less. thats all about my download. Dont use torrents unless its friggin urgent. heavy web user and mail server, and no http/https server as of now.

2 mbps, looks like i am on a bubble burst, because it says 2.0 mbps but it shoots upto 2.75 mbps. snr is good, service is good and prompt, since 2005 just 20-25 downtime and sla was quick 3-4 hours just once 1 day delay. am i doing good?

p.s. it says 100 GB but i did overshoot 2 times thanks to great p0rn leecher friends i got. i was not capped off with bandwidth and also may be because it happened once on 20 th and 21 st and billing cycle starts on 26 th everymonth.

i cant vouch for him. mine will be 1.75-2 Mbps even after FUP else it stays within 2-2.75 Mbps. after FUP i noticed i lost about 1 Mbps.

Did you ask Airtel if your line supports 16mbps?
Funny story - Someone I know called Airtel CC & asked if he could get 16mbps.
He was told that he couldn't get it as his line couldn't 'withstand' 16mbps & it would BURST! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
