My first email to them:
Hi!
MTNL has recently doubled the speed on all of its truly unlimited (no FUP) plans. I can now get 1mbps download and 1mbps upload speed on MTNL for Rs 999 a month (http: mtnldelhi.in broadband triband_tariff.htm). Airtel has not doubled speed on any plan as of yet. Also all Airtel plans have ridiculous Fair Usage Policy on them. Like the High Speed Combo 999 plan on which the speed is reduced to 64kbps after just 7GB of data transfer at 2mbps. In this day and age of high speed internet access Airtel is trying to take us back to the dial up age! This is really frustrating. What is Airtel doing to retain its customer base I am very tempted to switch to MTNL considering they have waived off registration and installation charges.
Their reply:
Dear Mr. Nigam,
Thank you for showing interest in our services.
With reference to your e-mail dated 14th March 2010, you have inquired about the available bill plans.
Please find attached the plan details for your reference. We request you to reconfirm if you wish to opt for either of the attached rate plans.
Looking forward to a positive response from your end.
(YES! with so many line spaces between sentences.. God only knows why).. And they sent me an excel with the *old* plans :/
My reply:
Your 1mbps plan (which is FUPd at 100GB) costs 1699 a month, and MTNL's 1mbps plan (no FUP, truly unlimited) costs 999 a month. That was my query. Are you planning to reduce the costs of you unlimited plans? I know about your current plans, so please don't send me an excel sheet with current plans.
Waiting for a reply :/
