Tried with Bank Of Maharashtra - it was easy.

It sent SMS from number and asked me to choose ID

And then based on my number it automatically showed by bank account details.

I disabled SMS and phone permission after registering and thankfully it worked.

I also disabled location permission. But it refused to go ahead without location permission

Trying to add PNB account in BOM UPI app.

But it gives "timeout" error. Probably its not able to connect to PNB servers?

@amish ... FSS is Financial Software Systems (FSS) , an IT company in Chennai

But other banks like Axis and BOM have hosted APP under their own Android ID.

PNB shud have done the same to avoid confusion. They have 2-3 apps under "PNB" android id.

i dont think it use sms for transactions.

Could have.. But check more from developer.. you can see more banks... In fact mobile banking apps itself...

I tested with account where my alternate number was registered (and on android phone)

But now need iOS app as most of my accounts have my primary number registered with them.

Else UPI is completely useless for me

For ios..Only need to wait for 6 months.By the time, this would either become a common thing or an utter flop and you would not have to bother downloading it..
