hello,
I am using BSNL BB 256 plan and I notice that the max download speed is around 30kBps. One of my friend is using Airtel with the same plan and he is getting around 50 kBps.
Is there something I need to check. BSNL service sucks big time. The concerned person (in Indiranagar, Bangalore) hardly does present in his seat. Not sure whom to complaint on this.
Any help appreciate!
Thanks,
Prashanth
30 - 32 KBps speed on 256 Kbps connection is pretty normal.
Although 50 KBps is something i've never seen on a 256 Kbps conncection, i meant a steady 50 KBps, sometimes the connectvity initially shoots to 50 KBps or more then gradually would come back to around 30 KBps on most of the 256 Kbps connection.
The main reason for this being 8 Kb = 1 KB (Note the change in case of the letter 'B')
so therefore 256 Kbps = 32 KB (which is the optimum speed)
In general computer terms for storage we always relate data by Bytes(B). Eg: KB, MB,GB etc.
But in when it comes to data transfer rate in internet it's always Bits(b) per second. Eg: Kbps, Mbps, Gbps etc.
I don't think complaining against this would bring about any changes....
