Damn! Kolkata was a priority circle for Vodafone, so I don't know why the rules are so different for Kolkata versus say Delhi or Mumbai.

I hope they at least remove the capping when they roll out 5G. If they roll out 5G, that is.

Finally chanced upon a BTS that seems to give uncapped speeds. The test was conducted sometime around 14:12 IST. For some reason the Speedtest result link displays time in GMT.

Few place in Bengal nd Kolkata vi launch 5G with capped speed

Incidentally, Vi LTE-CA speeds are reasonably good in Kolkata, definitely better than Airtel and at many places, better than Jio.

@pachabhut I think he was speaking in jest. Vi doesn't have 5G officially anywhere in the country, yet. And yes, Vi's data speeds are actually pretty good in Kolkata and in the other districts of West Bengal as well. In some places they're on par with Airtel.

But they seriously need to shut down 3G in ROB circle and start deploying 4G on 2100Mhz. Data over 3G barely works these days.

At my home I normally get 50-60 DL and 10-15 UL with Vi prepaid sim on a 4 year old phone with 2CA.
