@npat,
i doubt this, its like saying you cant use an external monitor to your
Dell CPU, the only main thing which they need is the LNB (Feedhorn), the dish is just a receiver of electro magnetic waves. check below. The Dish has nothing to do with the warranty or Harware compatibility issues. for crying out loud, its just a Dish and nothing is there in it other than a metal piece bent to a parabolic shape.
"The parabolic shape of a dish reflects the signal to the dish’s focal point. Mounted on brackets at the dish's focal point is a device called a feedhorn. " (courtesy : Wikipedia

You will defintely use an external monitor with a Dell CPU, but the question is, will you use it if it is not required?
I never questioned the advantages of a larger dish. I never said that if you use a larger dish then you will lose on quality and stuff. What I said was that if a larger dish was *indeed* needed then Videocon would provide it themselves even if that means a higher cost. And by providing a larger dish they could well brag in the market that "we have the largest dish and hence, most superior picture quality". The fact that they haven't done this means that what they are providing is *sufficient* for the service provided.
Also, you say that there won't be any warranty issues. Well, if you buy a new car and change the tyre specifications as per your requirement and if that requirement is not as per company standards, then you will definitely lose warranty on your tires and rims / alloys. If you put a reverse camera after purchasing a new car and that involves modification in electrical wiring (higher relay capacity, joints, etc.) then you will definitely lose your warranty on the Electricals of your car.
Bottom line is, unless you enjoy very high contacts in Videocon Management, installing a dish other than the one provided by Videocon will void your warranty. That's why is I said in my original post "Of course, there is always DIY (Do It Yourself), but then points 1) and 2) come into picture for that". If you don't believe then check with their Installation Engineer or their Team Lead. I can give you a Bangalore Team Lead's number if you want.
