@amitsonui am not sure if videocon has same policy but airtel has this policy...i assume may be videocon has same policy.airtel allows u to migrate from current FREE offer to same or higher price package if done within 7days of purchase.. but u will have to pay the difference.may be u can try this..migrate to lower package but get some topup so that monthly cost remains the same. that way u and videocon both will be happy.

No idea on this, but logically speaking, if u set a language for a channel, then recording shud be done in that language only.

That cant be done AFAIK. Yeah, but u can edit out the ads, once it is recorded - u can edit videos.

But, i have hit another roadblock now.....

My free period for Platinum HD has got over, and i wanted to downgrade to New Gold Sports pack. But they now say that this is not available for HD DVR.

So compulsorily, i have to buy Diamond HD - Rs. 380 or
Platinum HD - Rs. 440.....

This is another pathetic policy that has troubled me.

I would say, if any1 is waiting to buy HD DVR, then better wait for this kind of policy to change. or else u will have to end up paying for channels, that u do not want to watch.

I have mailed this issue to their Customer Care & TRAI as well, coz i dont think Vineet can help out in policy related issues.

And with every passing day, my balance is getting deducted for the Platinum HD pack.
 
Ok, so my Package has been changed to Sports Gold.....but sadly the Recording function has some issues, ahve lodged another complaint for that!!
 
Oh, forgot to update on this thread, that no more issues, everything resolved.......well within time.
 
Since i had even written to TRAI, i got an official letter from D2h informing me that my issue has been resolved......feels nice when a seemingly unsolvable thing gets solved!!When i had complained, i never expected that i would actually be able to get a lower package atleast in the near future for HD DVR. But, to my surprise, its a reality - saved a lot of my money for now!!

Hi Everyone,

Here is my Saga of Videocon d2h.

I have been a d2h user for close to 10 months when I decided that I should upgrade to HD DVR box. D2h was chosen over other operators for the channel options and that it gives HDMI as connectivity option.

The best part:
Booking d2h was the simplest. All I had to do was buy it online and received call from customer care saying that the installation will happen in 2 days. happy. 15-03-2011. Someone came from D2h and gave a starter kit the next day and informed that installation will be done on the 17-03-2011. This is for an installation in Hyderabad

Now starts the Struggle:
d2h guys disappeared altogether for the next 10 days. I had to make multiple calls to all the numbers listed for d2h all over India just to have some engineer come and install. Finally on 26-03-2011 the installation was done. My parents were happy that the issue was resolved.

As I stay in Pune, I went home on 01-03-2011 to watch the World cup final. And I wanted to record that match. To my horror on 1-04-2011 when I was testing the DVR service I realized that it is not activated. I called the engineer who installed the product. They informed that it will be done in a hour. After that was not resolved I call the customer car who said they will look into the matter. Apart from DVR, I also realized that they did not configure 5.1 surround, the delay in changing channels is horrible, startup time was close to 3 minutes and the remote was functioning erratically. The engineer came and resolved the 5.1 issue but the rest of the issues were still pending. I was informed that Videocon is providing a software update and everything will be resolved.

I gave them 5 days windows and on 07-04-2011 called and informed the CC again by phone and email about the above pending issues. The engineer came promptly, replaced the remote and went away. But then the condition of the box became even worse. IT started crashing whenever it was switched on. Raised another complaint with d2h CC. This time the service was so worst that no engineer came for another 10 days leaving me stuck with a useless box. Finally after threating them that they have to refund me the whole amount on 16-04-2011 (I made a mistake of taking 6 month plan when they replaced the remote. my bad), they came to resolve the issue on 18-04-2011.

The worst part:
They informed that HDMI cable will not work and we have to watch it in AV mode. and they informed that a software update needs to happen and left after removing the HDMI cable. Last weekend I went home again and was shocked to see the solution that they have given. The TV is dead slow. Audio keeps breaking and it takes forever to change channels. DVR service finally got activated but the speed at which the response takes place I am not sure if it is even functioning properly. When I had a word with the Hyderabad technician, they informed that until a software update happens they cannot do anything more. and this May happen by the end of April. They are not even sure if it will happen. Without HDMI the settop box channel quality is shit.

So the saga still continues. Hope it is updated if not I will just scrap that and pick a Tata Sky(I can live without Ten Action+ but cannot ask my parents to not to watch TV at all). The cost of Rs 7500 is a dead investment and the time spent talking to the customer care is lost forever.

As a customer what does d2h expect me to do. Seeing how some of them here have their issues resolved, I am hoping mine also gets

P.S: Oops my first post is such a big rant. well anyway this is the second time I am typing this after the whole message was lost to timeout. This really tells me how fedup Iam with d2h HD service
