Vodafone 2G GPRS SPEED In Ubuntu Linux! And Vodafone Gprs Settings For UBuntu

I am Using Ubuntu 10.10 IN my laptopcurrently I am using Vodafone gprs and getting speed up to 40kbps .Min. 20 kbps And Max Speed 40 Kbps in Gujarat. But Download Rate is min. 9kbps and max. 25kbps ..i am using gprs via mobile Nokia model 2700 classic connect via cable.please help me in how to get more speed because speed is too slow....

dats good spd u r getting...download spd wil be 1/8th of ur spd..so its pretty gud..is ur ph supporting EDGE? if its so, spd can increase.
