Hello All

Can anyone clarify me the difference between the two ?

I need GPRS functionality on my mobile to check Outlook Exhchange mail and Gmail on my mobile only, not PC

First I activated that Vodafone Live, and accessed GPRS using accesspoint portalnmms and proxy server 10.10.1.100. I could access Outlook using that but not gmail. I guess it was due to some port blocking.

Now, Vodafone offerred me to enable Mobile Connect at 99/month. After its activation I am able browse both Outlook and Gmail using access point www on my mobile, without any proxy.

I am confused weather, I should delete the earlier connection (portalnmms). I am also confusing which is actual GRPS ?

Should I unsubscribe from Vodafone Live now ?

Thanks in Advance

Madhur

Vodafone live is for browsing HTTP websites only ie. only port 80 can be accessed.Vodafone mobile connect is full internet almost all ports can be accessed and hence any application can work.Btw is 99Rs/month unlimited access?!! Or u pay 5p/10kb additional?

Thanks for the reply. I see that Vodafone live has already been unsubsribed from my services. I guess I can delete its connection now :).Yes, 99/month its unlimited. And if its cheap, it might be because its corporate plan. Thanks,Madhur

are u really very very sure its 99Rs/mon unltd?! because on their website, minimum plan for vodafone mobile connect is 199Rs/mon rent and 5p/10kb!

I again reiterate, its a corporate plan and would not be there on internet. We also have Vodafone-Vodafone free calling within our corporate network.--Madhur

yes but 99Rs is too cheap to believe. i have tried vodafone connect on EDGE and it was impressive so vodafone mobile connect shud be even more impressive.(connection thru PC)

Chill, Amish. Other people have also reported that you can get it at Rs. 99/- unlimited but only on corporate (CUG) plans.

As I said, I only use it through mobile, just for checking mails, which is scheduled every 2 hours using ActiveSync. So, Availability matters more to me rather than Performance.

Thanks,
Madhur

no my point is... i noticed 10KB/s=80kbps on vodafone, so i wud buy the plan anyday if i get 80kbps unlimited for just abt 113Rs or so (with tax). now i want the plan anyhow :p

You are right. If its 10 KB/sec, its very cheap. But it comes with its own quirks like* Dependence on antenna strength* Draining of mobile battery - > I really hate this one.I prefer to use a seperate broadband connection for internet. Although this can be used in an emergency.
