ummm Vodafone took over from Hutch longback. And they had long time to build and test website. and it shud be professional company, if website is not ready then dont change website and let existing one continue for time being.

The 1st mover advantage is always there. Just conduct a poll on any forum and users will swear by Gmail more than Hotmail.

Google had the first movers advantage in:
1. taking online advertisement seriously
2. taking search seriously

Microsoft is already facing the heat by Google. If you have noticed changes in Microsoft's approach to everything they do, it is because of Google.

1. They dominate their markets already. Face little challenge in them.
2. Search and online advertisement are new markets which they are aiming to conquer.

The only market where Microsoft is 'somewhat' taking a beating is the web browser market.

Sunil Mittal may be the owner of the Airtel, but if it crumbles so will he.

That's why he is moving out of the saturated telecom market and entering the growing retail market.

As far as Sarin is concerned, well he is responsible for Vodafone's success. What have we got to do with their designations?

1. Yeah, that's why most of the board members wanted him to resign just a few months back...

Vodafone has just lost out to O2 which would now be launching the iPhone in the UK. It's going to be interesting how much damage iPhone does to them in their home market.

And he still rules. Read this brother...

iPhone is a non 3G handset and simply built on hype. Its features might be awesome, but the excitement or the addicition is short lived.

Imagine having a 3G subscription and going for the iPhone.

1 million iPhones sold in 74 days.

That's what matters in the end. Apple sells on hype no doubt. But it sells. iPod has similar problems with lack of features. No FM, No voice recorder. It still remains the most popular portable media player in the world.

^ They did not get any deal this time around but they want to get a deal with Apple in the future.

I agree with this, Vodafone had a very bad first impression. In so many months they could not ready and test their website (Supposedly the Largest Mobile phone company). All Star channels are showing only Vodafone ads, all ads are showing Vodafone India - Home Page and the site is not ready, what a shame...........

Guess Vodafone just made a sick entry, they gotto take it seriously because their first impression is really bad. The website looks ugly......They think Hutch was recognized by the "running pug" but they fail to realize, Hutch always carried a message n their ads which they executed by use of the pug, Vodafone is just all out with the pug and meaningless ads, thinking people will be pleased to see the pug, failed advertising and understanding the minds of "Junta" here...........

Dude, I am no spokesperson or endorser for Vodafone. You judging an organization within a day of its launch?Of course, you are right about the preparation aspect. But don't expect them to prepare months together only for a website. They have pumped in billions in this desired aquisition. They surely won't waste their resources.

so what are they doing now?they are spending crores on their advertisements on star. which points to a website which is not working properly. i expect them to prepare for a launch that is somewhat better than SUN TV. Their Direct DTH Service website does not work as per my experience. Vodafone gotta be better than Sun TV... right?

Waste their resources??? They are putting in more than 200 crores for Brand introduction and they cannot spend few lakhs on Website Development. There was lot of gap when Vodafone took over from Hutch and Brand name change so they were expected to a better launch, like Sushubh said a better than Sun DTH launch after all they are known to be "Best mobile service proider"....

one of the things i thought would change with vodafone was that they would introduce web enabled control panel for stuff like blacklist/whitelist/DND... looks like we are off to a shaky start.let's hope they fix the glitches fast. people do not like to go back and check dead services.

Okay guys chill..Well...Microsoft is rather the world's largest software maker (Much much bigger than Vodafone in terms of market capitalization). Yet their Windows copy has bugs...isn't it.Their Vista was much hyped too, after having spent billions of dollars on R & D. They had to counter the security bugs soon after its launch with enormous patches.Think about it Sushubh!
