vodafone is a mobile company not a marketing company. microsoft had a product. they marketed it properly. i am sure vista's site was working well before it was launched in the market earlier this year. if vodafone's network has bugs... i can accept that coz it is hard to control. but a non-functional website? beh. not acceptable.

Exactly a non-functional website which is displayed in Exclusive Ads package on Star TV is a big blunder. And Vodafone and Microsoft cannot be compared. Even though MS OS'es are criticised so much, they are the market leaders. They know marketing better than anyone else. Even if they sell the same product with new clothes, they will force people to buy it just by their marketing!

Vodafone or any other mobile company is also offering a product too sweets!

microsoft had a product. they marketed it properly.

Ok so you accept Vista's ads and you also accept Vista's bugs too...aren't you contradicting something here?

Remember as per your point, they are supposed to be perfect, since they have spent billions to match customer's expectations :)

i am sure vista's site was working well before it was launched in the market earlier this year.

I am sure Vodafone too tested their website. However its not yet perfect.

Such is life. What say Sushubh? ;)

What you are saying? Did they come personally to force you? :yahoo:

Haha..chill!!

i use vista on a laptop with 2 gb ram. it works fine on that. no problems faced. software cant be pefect. it should at least work. vista works. and it's website too works. vodafone's site? it does not. vodafone tested their website? if this is their testing standards, they are putting microsoft to shame.i actually have bought vista ultimate edition knowing all the bad things people say about it. i plan to use it when i get a quad core machine early next year. i am not even afraid of the thought of running it after the Vista SP1 comes out.

Just got to this thread, just to say same thing that their website is not working but guess what, some pages were not accesible in morning but they are now, so i guess they are removing problems with there website.I think if they get it done by tonite itself, then it will not be considered as standard of their services, isn't it?about vista, i too used that on friends machine for few days, but what i didnt like was too much shiny graphics( that shine on black taskbar etc) but that can be attributed to personal taste, as i like to work on screen that is soft on my eyes ;-)

Trying to access site from morning but this is what I got right now.

They dont need to personally force anyone. The point made was "Superb Marketing" because of which people want to use their product even though they know that its still not "Perfect".

heh, and I thought I was the only one who noticed the Vodafone ads - website not working blunder! Look at you guys!!!

Anyway, I think it's quite obvious that they are guilty of a faux pas - spending so much money on publicizing the switchover and their new site, but not having their website ready. But the important question is - How is Vodafone going to improve Hutch?

vodafone tested their website? if this is their testing standards, they are putting microsoft to shame.

Dude, few things to be remembered:

This is a migration from Hutch to Vodafone. Not a newly built business from scratch. Hutch's website sucked (their branding was excellent) and Vodafone is incorporating it upon completion of their migration.

Here it is not just testing a website and crying about why it's not working. Its about taking over a huge database of millions of customers and branding them as Vodafone accounts.

The point which I have been trying to make since long is:

Why is everything being judged from the website point of view?

If you have bought Vista despite it having problems, hats off to you. By the way, Microsoft spends billions on R & D. Yet their products are consistent with bugs. And they run their business with countless patches.

I am just giving Microsoft's example, so they don't have to be put to shame. Hotmail was bad too, till Gmail's arrival made them improve gradually.

I hope you are getting my point. Give Vodafone time dude. Billions of dollars expenditure does not mean everything works the way you want on the 1st day itself. They are probably making things work better, while trying to improvise the website which was not too well managed by Hutch.

Another example: Hutchison Whampoa's 3 Network in the UK was launched as a 3G Network. It was a miserable failure, despite spending billions and being innovative in their approach.

Today it's fairly successful.

The website FYI does not carry customer accounts, so question of carrying huge database is simply not correct. Website just displays the product, services, contact points, new offers, promotions etc.

We are not judging on the website point of view but point is "Wrong planning" and not readying themselves for the launch, they should have had things in place before making a big fuss with exclusive ads on Star.

The website of Hutch was not well managed? on what basis u say that? Hutch had a anytime better website than current vodafone india website.
