What's Your SNR Ratio and Attenuation Rates? (BSNL Broadband)

If that's true why a few peoples are affected & the rest get full speed. Can i use a BSNL modem for testing the line?
 
check out my connection ratios..
For 500 unlimited plan my down speed was around 105-110kbps..

current plan:256kbps
download speed upto 30kbps..

I beg to differ here. They are not clever. They dont know what they are doing? Yesterday after my complaint a technician called me up for the exact location of my house & he didn't turn up as promised. Today i called the CC(he told me that he know nothing about SNR ratio) & came to know that he has informed & closed the complaint saying that i'm then getting full speed. Like most of the reliance users mentioned in this forum it goes in loop. Complaint to CC-> technician says everything is fine->complaint closed & again everything back to square one.

BSNL also does the same thing.....
best thing is switch to 3G.... Vodafone provide unlimited plan for very cheap rate.......
 
i have a mtnl connection with 4mbps plan it was running all fine for 4-5 months i was getting around 3.5mbps speed but now the connection started to drop frequently when i complained with mtnl they reduced my speed to 2mbps saying that their lines now cannot hold the 4mbps speed, i checked my SNR values and found that in 2mbps plan SNR DOWN is 21 and UP is 7 and when they set it to 4mbps plan the SNR DOWN - 6 and up is - 5, have complained from head to toe in MTNL here in south delhi hauz khas exchange but noone really bothers to rectify it and when i shouted at the area manager mr.sharma he clearly told me that their lines are old and they cannot bear the load of 4mbps and said "yeh to aise hi chelga aapne connection katvana hai to katva do":madness: this is what MTNL provides its customers with...... shame on MTNL:madness:

I have got pretty bad SNR from airtel...Down is arnd 18 ...even tried the wiring change did nt help. I dnt remember the up
 
The values could mean several things.The current passed through the telephone lines vary from connection to connection. If you have an old wire connection, the bsnl/mtnl guy can either:a) Replace the wire orb) Increase the voltageThe MTNL wireman said to me that the accepted voltage(AC) in telephone wires is around 80 volts. I checked my connection with a multimeter and i get a reading of 125 volts(AC). I informed the MTNL guy about this and he said that it might benefit me with a stable internet connection(good snr values) but it might damage my telephone equipment. This made sense because i've had several landline telephones dying on me over the years.So like a member above me said, the modems might also act as "signal boosters" hence different modems will show different snr values.If your values are not good enough, you have the following options:a) Asking your line man to increase the voltage on your connectionb) Replacing the wirec) Finding a good modem which can help in boosting the signald) Disconnecting all telephone lines because they do eat some bandwidth from the wire; even in idle modee) Keep the connection plain and simple. Some people like to make telephone outlets in every single electric board and in every single room of the house. This causes voltage leaks.f) Both downstream and upstream rates should be proportioned logically because they both have to travel through one single pair of wire without fighting each other for space. Upstream should be 1/4th of downstream. ie, 2048 down and 512 up.

USE ADSL splitter for each extension phone.
