@karanaparikh Ok :) But usually in security matters having many layers of it, is considered an added insurance :)

So true as one can never be too sure nowadays. I know kids in my colony who are quite expert in hacking peoples a/c's & it so sad as their parents are unaware of it & hence unable to correct them. :(

Hi,

Although the outside client can access my NAS drives and my TV and my wireless home theater :(

All this is possible using OPEN WRT or DD WRt amazing piece of firmwares these are.

Karan

:iomg: Your NAS drives are accessible to outsiders? But what about safety of data on it?

@kreacher

Ya mate my NAS drives are accessible to outsiders because OPEn WRt doesnt support NAS encryption through their interface.

Safety- I have them on Read only hehe :)

Regards

Hmmm. I don't want to sound discouraging or sound like a wet blanket. But do you know how many seconds it takes to go thru that, I know guys who can write a script to all these type of things. Basically what I am trying to say is that these sort of activities can be automated to steal any/all info from the source.

I am trying to identify a good wifi router for my BSNL broadband account. My need is to have desktop wired with internet and to connect my laptop, android mobile thru wifi. Could someone point difference between DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router and DIR-600 Wireless 150 Router ? ( I am not sure what these are up to and got those while googling). My system info:Win XP & Vista, Laptop with Wifi and BSNL 512Kbps ( or so called ! :) ).BTW, I wonder if someone can share what is ADSL2, ADSL2+Router, Router etc. A link will be appreciated.

If you use now a modem/router rented/purchased from
BSNL give the model/make/number.
Both Dir600 and Dir 615 need additional Adsl modem.
More theory later Only wifi routers.
For Internet Access:
• Cable or DSL Modem
Check whether it is listed in my
"Sticky" post WA3002-g4 quick reference guide above.

BSNL supplies a 3-in One model:
ADSL modem+4lanPort+ wifi1800/=taxes. router on rental basis of80//P.M

Hi,I am looking for a wifi router with the following features:(1) Port forwarding(2) Dynamic DNS(3) Access controlCould someone suggest me a suitable model ?Thanks

Thanks a lot for the info. Currently I am using ADSL2+router STARCOM rented form BSNL. I heard that BSNL doesnt give choice to choose the modem, when I upgrade to Wifi router. So I thought of purchasing and configuring it on my own.
ADSL modem+4lanPort+ wifi1800
Any idea about the brand/model BSNL gives ?
