Can the D-Link DSL 2750U be used as a router, without using it as a modem?

I got the TP-Link a looooooong time back. Just now found the time to unpack it. Amazon took back the D-Link device without any questions, and I ordered this from them. The manufacturer of TP-Link also includes an ADSL splitter, which I didn't need, and an Ethernet cable.

The device works fine. Simple, easy setup that takes all of two minutes.

The Tata Docomo wire comes into the Primatel modem. I connected the Primatel modem to the TP-Link device using the ethernet cable. There's a "Quick Setup" that can be accessed from http://192.168.1.1, which I used, setting up the TP-Link device as a Wireless router.

To prevent the possibility of conflict with the Primatel modem, I changed the default LAN address for the DHCP server in the TP-Link device from 192.168.1.n to 192.168.64.n (now I use http://192.168.64.1 to access the TP-Link device).

In the TP-Link device, there's also an option to share 3G. I haven't tested this yet.

Since you mentioned firmware, I checked the version: the firmware version is 4.0. That's what it says at the back of the device: TD-W8968 Ver 4.0

Previously, when I wanted to connect the phone or the tablet to WiFi, I was using the laptop as a Wifi Hotspot. I had been managing without a router.

Now I can use the WiFi router to connect the phone and the tablet. And I don't have to switch the laptop on just because I want to use the tablet on WiFi.

well bro when you had Modem then why u decided to buy ADSl+WiFi device? you could have choosen any wifi router it won't cost you more than 1K

Coming to Amazon they are really amazing unlike FK or SD in terms of returns. I had very pathetic experience of returning a defective phone with FK

well bro when you had Modem then why u decided to buy ADSl+WiFi device? you could have choosen any wifi router it won't cost you more than 1K

I thought it would be good to have a backup modem just in case ... that's why I got a combo modem+router.
