Hi, sorry for the inconvenience caused - we understand that one of the customer place where the optical switch is placed has switched off the mains power and gone out of station. Our field team has been asked to shift the switch immediately and your problem will be resolved on high priority.

Thanks for reading post and taking action. Today my connection was restored.

But it could have been resolved much earlier. Just a small suggestion from my side: Try to implement SLA for fixing issues as Airtel do [their SLA is 24 hours] strictly. And do communicate to customers in case of delay.

Thank you.

Hello Everyone. :)I'm currently using BSNL Broadband, 750 Home UnLtd plan, Speed 512kbps, benefit I get is that I don't have to pay Rs.180/- monthly rent for my LL. Yet, over and above my BB Bill(Rs.849/-) I used to get charged for "calls" through my LL.... effectively I'm paying Rs.250/-pm for calls I don't really make...So I've recently applied for ACT 10 Mbps plan, for Rs.1100/-. I subscribed for 3 months. Waiting for them to pull the line. I need to know a few things :1) They said they'll fix some "terminal-box" at my place. will that have any radiation-related ill effects, more importantly because my mom has a PlayHome on the 1stfloor, and I don't want any child to be affected or anything like that.2) Is the wi-fi router worth it. They said they'll get some Cisco one... I use Wi-Fi a-lot because of my Laptop... I've not opted for it yet. I need a really powerful one because at places my house has 5-6ft thick walls each.3) If their BB services are good, I plan to go in for their TV related services too. Currently using Hathway @ Rs.375/-pm... any clue wrt these services. Thanks in Advance,Bhavin

1. No way!
2. It's best if you Get one.
3. Depends.

Thanks for the quick reply @audioslave.

@everyone : I'm searching for a good W/l router on Flipkart... open to suggestions... :)

P.S. : Awesome forum, this.

Dear ACTian... There were mixed response from people in this forum about ACT broadband service. The only thing which i am concerned is Customer Service. I am willing to apply for ACT BB connection but i need one thing in return and that is Quality of Customer Service. I want complete satisfaction from your side. Since you provide Optical fiber broadband that will result in good speed but do make sure that there is no break down in connections. I am staying near Kadugondanahalli (Arabic College). So please do let me know if i can get a new connection. You can contact me at this number 7411243248

I stay at Banaswadi and have been an ACT BB subscriber since last week. My experience :1) Customer Service : Acceptable. a) Time-To-Install: It took 7+ days though the whole process can be done in less than an hour's time. b) Service Personel: The service executives for ACT cable or entirely independent from the BB service. I have been an ACT cable subscriber for the past 5+ yrs and know a couple of service guys personally. But that does not help, since BB is serviced by entirely different folks. c) Portal Access: Current data usage is updated on a regular basis on the portal, so you pretty much keep track of your limits, at least after you download a large video or have a lengthy skype video session etc. Be informed that the update is once per day kind of, not real-time.2) Performance: To date, the performance is EXCELLENT ! 10Mbps downlink and more importantly 10Mbps Uplink!!! That's was indeed a remarkable improvement over BSNL. Though I must confess that the Downlink performance of BSNL was acceptable & reliable and Uplink was constrained by ADSL limits anyway.3) Reliability: This will be the key aspect TO BE VALIDATED over the next 3 months.PROS: Great Performance, reasonable cost, acceptable service.CONS: The Network -- I HATE the cables loosely running over trees and huts and shops and what not... If the switch premises is not UPS enabled (I have the switch at my home and NO ups yet:-)), then you are out of luck too. Compare it with the UG cabling with 48V DC always on telephone line which we are so used to.While ACT would never be able to challenge BSNL on reliability, it is currently scoring big time over it on Price-Performance metrics and I am a happy man.I have yet not cancelled my BSNL BB a/c, just in case this turns out to be a sour experience. At present I am VERY HAPPY with the service quality.Router: Consider at least a 300Mbps capable router if you plan to or have a Wifi enabled TV to which you want to stream HD movies from your PC. My experience with my 54mbps Utstarcom for HD streaming has been horrible. So my next upgrade surely will be 300Mbps min.You may consider (not a review, solely based on bandwidth capability):a) TP-Link TL-WR841N b) D-Link DIR-615 N Series etc.(For the tech savvy) DD-WRT firmware is available for both of the above routers.HTH,regards, rhari!

[I beg to differ, my experience with ACT broadband has been excellent so far...I am happy]Hello Readers,

My name is Vivek Sinha Anurag and i am going to post some "great" work shown by Act Broadband.

I applied for ACT Broadband 5 Mbps plan [its having cap value of 35GB after that speed will reduce to 256 kbps] by calling their customer care on 16th Aug 2011. I was surprised to see their lightening fast response as the representative came to my doorstep the very next day and on 17th Aug 2011 Mr Ashitt O.S. collected the money and documents and told me that withing 5 days i will get my connection and i even got sms confirmation that my request no is 142263.

Now the real story started. Even after 6 days no one ever bothered to check my request so i called customer care [ 080-42840000] to remind them and i was told that i will get it withing next 2 days. I waited for next 2 days and called them again.

I was surprised to learn a new technical term from them that they are "Uploading network" hence its taking time and soon i will get my connection. Since my work was getting affected because of their delay i applied for a BSNL connection too. Now today is 5th September and i am still waiting for the connection and to my surprise i got the BSNL broadband last week.

I tried escalating this matter and asked the customer care for any high level contact and they said that i need to mail [email protected]. I emailed them but i got no response.

Please note some points regarding ACT broadband before applying ACT broadband
1. They dont have nodal officer/appellate authority [against TRAI rules and i have already escalated this matter to TRAI officials with the help of pgportal.gov.in]
2. They have a customer base of 2500 users in bangalore and they are not able to manage even this small number.
3. They DO NOT PROVIDE STATIC IP [even if they claim to do so]
4. Their customer care service is useless. All you will losse is your balance by talking to them
5. They can "Upload network" [You can imagine the understanding capability of their technicians]
6. They are fast in collecting money but lazy in delivering service

Final conclusion: To be on safe side stay away from them else you will suffer like me. Morning shows the day and even before using their service i am suffering. Don't know what will happen when i get the connection and i face any problem that time.[/QUOTE]
