You just got me started on YouBroadband. I was dumb enough to sign up for a 4 month plan as they were giving discount. They provided me the shittiest kind of broadband connection and don't even talk about service. At some point I literally felt like picking my laptop along with YouBroadband modem and throwing against a wall :pissed-off:

It was so bad, unreliable, fluctuating with frequent outages that I decided to keep my BSNL broadband too, at least BSNL was providing what it promised.

Avoid YouBroadband at any cost!!! They gave me the worst broadband ISP experience, even worse than the one I had with Hathway :pissed-off:

Hello all. I too am a user of ACT Broadband. I've been using it since August. The initial payment was taken very quickly ( All companies do it ). And my connection, albeit two days late, was installed and since then I have been, lets say patient with it. I am on the 5mbps 999/- pm plan with a 35 GB FUP. The consistency of connection is my main issue. When working, speeds are always around 5mbps as promised. But since we are dealing with cable here, there have been many instances where the connection does not work at all ( problems mainly being cable getting cut, no power, etc...) Other than that,I really don't have any issues with them.

I can sympathize with views of my fellow writers on this topic. I have experienced the same if not worse treatment by other ISPs. In fact I think most of BB users in India have had a similar sort of experience at some point in the past.ACT Broadband is still a baby when it comes to the BB game in India. Having said that, they should have been prepared for any problems that they would/could encounter. ( learn from others mistakes ) .I had a terrible experience with Airtel, a problem that lasted 4 months.

I also have a YOU Broadband connection 12mbps 999/- pm 25 GB FUP post which speed reduces to 1mbps, which is excellent value. But on the flipside, I only got that 12 mbps for the first month and since then, numerous disconnections, low speeds, and what not. I feel lucky if I can get even 5mbps speed on it nowadays.

All of us here are looking for alternatives to Airtel or BSNL. Company's like ACT and YOU BB are trying to enter a market which has been dominated by the likes of Airtel,BSNL etc for the longest time, by offering higher speeds at a lesser price. The cheaper they are, the worse the service is going to be. These guys take a hammering in the consistency department. Even with a small consumer database, they can't do things right. The only reason I went for a ACT connection was because I was having a torrid time with Airtel ( referring to the same problem I mentioned above ).

Unless and until these smaller companies get their affairs in order, we will not be able to do too much about anything Broadband related. Lets hope something is done soon. If not, expect the worse, be patient cause these guys will drive you mad. :pissed-off:

Good Luck & God Bless.

1 thing which i can tell is that ur so foolish that u have not observed ur speed up gradation r u never mind it. Now ACT is providing 10Mbps for the same rate/plan. Have u ever noticed that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ACTian: Nowadays we see ACT broadband posters all over the city. I feel you should have a different phone number for customer acquisition. The existing customers are finding it very difficult to contact the call center now as it is always engaged.

11 days after getting my ACT connection, I've my first outage. Let's see how much time it takes to get fixed.

----------

After waiting on the call for about 12 minutes, I got through the customer care number. The lady on the other side of the line asked me to do a few steps like restart DCHP Client and DNS Client. The first time it didn't work. She raised a case for it. After I hung up the call, I took off the LAN cable, reconnected it and followed the same steps again. Now it's working! So false alarm, no outage.

@ACTian: The case number is 0000317486. Can you have this closed? I don't think have the patience to call CC and have it closed :D

Hi DCB, your installation is originally scheduled on 18th May 2012. Said that we will try to expedite tomorrow if possible.

Still waiting on that installation. Current date: 19th May.

Hi ACTian, Can you please provide the update on Girinagar, Hosakerahalli and surrounding areas? I could not see any reply to this question which was asked a few days ago by some other user who resides in the same area.
Thanks

Hi ACTian,

I did not get any response for this question. Can you please update when ACT will be available in these areas?

Update: I called up the guy who came to collect the money and has been promising installation the "next day" for almost 2 weeks now. He said it would be done by 12:30pm today. I called back after that time passed and now he says the guy cannot come today and he will again "be done tomorrow". He gave me his managers number, but obviously it'd be a miracle if this new guy answered my calls.

So I guess my only option is to ask for a cancellation and refund of the 4380/- I paid two weeks ago, and instead get Airtel installed, since ACT doesn't seem interested in giving me a connection even after my enourmous patience and willingness to give the new guys a chance and try them out.

Such a disappointment. I was looking forward to a new provider and was going to recommend this to about 50-60 of my friends who are in the process of moving to Bangalore. Instead I will now have to let them know to avoid ACT at all cost.

Ticket No:1476032
Ticket Description:
Ticket Priority: Higher
Ticket Status: Pending

Update: I called CC to ask for a cancellation and refund, and lo and behold, there was some movement. They asked for yet another day, but more importantly someone actually visited my hosue for the first time after 12 days since collecting my payment. They installed the box! But that was it, the cabling is yet to be done to the box and there is no modem attached to the other end either.

Day 13 begins, and I am sure now if I ask for a cancellation, they will deduct the installation charges, when I would have gone 2 weeks without a connection. Not to mention sitting around the house on the weekends and evenings, waiting for imaginary people to show up. But the stick/dhamki method did cause some traction. This is so sad.
