Yup. You are right. The charges are only one time, but managing the bandwidth does take some expense too.

Its simple maths like this. They keep charges for a plan like this: 16Mb @ 5k for 50GB cap. They get only 100 customers. They make it 16Mb @ 2k for unlimited, they get 1000 customers. So actually lower prices are beneficial to the ISPs, expense or not.

But I don't know who makes these plans. I don't hate capping, but atleast it must be sensible. For 16Mb, the cap should be atleast 100Gb.

I completely agree with this line of thinking. Not only would you get more customers if you priced plans like this, but also you would be helping broadband to progress in India by increasing penetration and number of customers.

Doesn't take an MBA to learn common sense, I honestly don't see how any company can be this short sighted.

this is exactly what i said in an interview a couple of years back. the two guys who were asking me the questions were both MBAs. of course i was not 'selected' out of the lot. and i thank them for making that mistake.

plans are not good but atleast we can say that we also have ultra high speed internet in our country.

Yes but it's like giving you a satellite launcher rocket or something when all you want to begin with is a Tata Nano - to get from point A to B in a reliable cheap manner. How hard is it to give a 2 MPps unlimited connection for Rs 800-1000 a month?

you cant expect much from private ISPs becoz the govt doesnt allow dem fringes lyk dey do for MTNLs & BSNLs...n after all why would dey...they wont allow dem to steal the customers of govt ISPs.Its simple...2 Mbps n above at cheap rates as u compare it wid european countries n all is only possible with fiber optic network....n it takes a whole lot of shit to dig up n cover the entire city wid it.....n imagine all the cities..it wud really take years. Dats y even railwire's network( the one everyone wishes dey cud have ) is restricted to a small area.Atleast MTNL is starting to think about it nw...it wud take a long tym before privare ISPs get a hand.believe me guys i m as frustrated wid my connection as every1 is n i hav done as much plan shifting as possible...but well...wat can we do ?

Rubbish...20gb limit...and rs3000 pm. Limit is too low...imagine with a d/l speed of 2mbps how much data can be downloaded..and the price is just too much...need re think m/s airtel...:madness:

They should make the limit 100 GB and then they will get a lot of satisfied and a lot of new customers. 5k @ 100 GB is reasonable in our country!

dude..dats the point...100 GB in jst 15 hours...so dont look at the connection in hours..why do u care if it finishes in 15 hrs or 10 hrs...do you have 100 GB woth of downloading to be done in jst a cpl of days?...100 GB is more than enough for even heavy downloaders..zabardasti karo to bhi...;)
