Is this speed on demand a risk worth taking coz u never know about private companies....:P

demigod .. you are right.. i dont think the site works fine in safari and firefox.. i had tried in firefox and it had issues.. IE it works fine.

Speed on Demand or BOD is certainly expensive.Though there is no foul play in the bills.I always activate BOD for a little less than 5 mins and in my bill it only shows the 1 pulse usage. Its a good feature given by Airtel, I just hope they reduce the charges.

I just checked the website now they use the term SOD instead of BOD.:)

Hello:I am using AirTel Broadband in Pune for last 4 months and its pricing is OK. I need to pay INR 399 for DSL 64 KBPS unlimited. Tata - VSNL pricing for the same is INR 500+. That way AirTel is better. Plus you can get free incoming for the tel no which have been assigned to you. If you have not taken a voice plan, you don't get to make outgoing calls. However, calls to their Broadband customer center (8080) can be made any time.I do use Speed On Demand (SoD) at times. They have an accurate way to bill them. After selecting the speed, the window has an option "Disconnect". You can select that anytime. And they have SoD pulse of 5 minutes, which means, if you use SoD 256 KBPS (INR 25/ hour) for 10 mins, you will need to pay INR 4.10 pro rated only. After 57 minutes, they provide a pop up saying :"Do you wish to continue?"If you click on "Yes" option, only then it will be extended. If you click on "NO" or do not confirm, it will revert to the normal speed automatically after exact an hour.Till now, i haven't been overcharged, and yes, the speed change is very accurate and instantaneous (within 5 seconds at max).:yahoo:

Its working absolutely fine ... speed change is instantaneous!

Damn, just look at the pricing. Its pathetic that most of ISP's instead of working on infrastructure to come out with awesome unlimited plans, they are coming out with such a crap services. At least i am not so dumb to utilise such service.

^^^^ Who is? lol...BTW... there is one more twist. Any guy who is already paying for a 1Mbps connection should be charged less than a guy who is paying for a 128Kbps plan. The plans, if, are on a at par basis, will definitely make more sense. But expecting sense these days is a little issue as the demand is really low. I hope as demand increases, we will see better bandwidth with even better tariffs.

I am also aware that they have started such a service but haven't had any feedback from any users as to how it is and the correctness of the billing is a big issue ... unless someone uses it and comes out with a positive feedback i'm pretty skeptical and won't use it ...

Also how do you revert back to your normal speeds??? Do you simply disconnect or recycle your modem's power???
Someone needs to shed some light on these questions ....

i used it couple of times.. i didn't got the promised speed instead i got 85% of alloted speed. regarding disconnection you have to login back to speed on demand website and you will be directed to deactivate page.just click deactivate that's enough.secondly if u forgot to do it so..it will automatically get deactivate after an hour from the time of activation.
