Airtel DTH user interface is filled with ads. Why are we paying for it then? @airtel_presence

With latest summer sale on Steam , now i feel how much i need speed(read : less ping) than Bandwidth. A 300 GB , with 4 mbps or even more for 1000-1300 Rs would be an awesome deal imo. post 300 GB , even if its 256kbps , i wouldnt mind.

We are in receipt of your complaint dated 23rd June, 2012 to MOIAB.

As per your complaint, there was an issue with the promotions on the EPG window on your airtel digital TV.

We would like to inform you that mini guide is a pop-up, user invoked, on which the channel number, channel name, programme name etc. are shown so that the customer sees details of the channel/programme he has switched to. Almost all STBs across India and the world have a mini guide. Along with this information on the mini guide, we are also displaying some additional information regarding promotions. This additional information that we provide is a very effective way to communicate promotions to customers and many customers appreciate this. Since the mini guide is displayed only when the customer changes the channel and the duration for which this mini guide is displayed can be changed by the user and can be minimized to as low as 1 second from the settings in the Menu. To add to this, other DTH operators both nationally and internationally run similar promotions.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to you and hope we have adequately addressed your concern.

It's wrong. Mini channel guide pop up after some time aromatically. even you do not switch the channel.
And there is a one more problem, you can not view full program synopsis. It's aways cut after some word.

sorry for the late reply. Still my house work has not got over , and it might take another week or 2 to switch on my STB.

But still , we should take it as a positive step. Yes ,these greedy corps wont budge that easily , but atleast we hit them , now they cant make revenue using the ads.

What about the start-up page full screen ads ? Are they still showing it or they changed that too with promos ?

More people need to join and place a complaint. We can again complaint in that portal regarding hindrance to viewing because of these intrusive promos.
 


Now there are no third party ads. They are running their own promos. But now they have increased the no. of channels of promos. channel no 100 channel for recharge info and there is one more channel for this.
