The Syrotech device that I mentioned in this post does not support omcicli, so I could run the commands to check the VLAN tagging. Then, I found this YouTube video that shows how to enable Bridge Mode in the Airtel router that I have. I did that and it worked, so for now I will continue using bridge mode. Thank you all for your help!

@IfranAli both the TP-Link XZ000 G3 and Digisol GR6011 are available for roughly the same price, which one is better and easier to setup - if i am planning to use for airtel ?

@tr1k0N4 budget not a major issue, but I have my Asus routers setup with mesh at home, so just wanted an onu to bypass the double nat. I am thinking a budget of 2k is reasonable. I am just looking for something with minimal hassle and easy setup.

TP-Link XZ000-G3 works without any issues for my Airtel connection. Use the VLAN Tagging mode in the ONU itself or set VLAN on the router. I got it for 1380 inc. shipping from LT Store.
Here's the buy link : G3
If you want a little future proofing, go with the VSOL V2802RH, it's a little difficult to get it in India tho.
VSOL V2802RH is a bit more customizable, just like a SFP Module, you can change a lot of settings like SW version etc which cannot be changed by default on the TP Link G3. I saw a YT video where the guy was on some unlocked firmware but not sure how he achieved that.

In that particular firmware he was able to change a lot of settings including firmware version.
Airtel just checks GPON SN for authentication as of now but might check other things like SW version in the future. Tata Play Fiber checks a lot of parameters before authentication so devices like G3 doesn't work with it.
For Airtel, G3 works flawlessly as of now so you can go for it.

@87056 thanks for the detailed reply...btw can this settings be changed in HG8120C or Digisol DG-GR6011. Asking because I don't need 2.5g and also want to save money.

Not sure, never heard of them. You can get the G3 if you want to save some money and don't need the 2.5G port.
