some guy on reddit posted this speedtest in the comments ,tbh i kinda feel sus as the upload speed is nothing which i have ever seen on a 5G sim ,especially given the highly congested mobile networks here

They are advertising as "PRIORITY will improve experience (i.e., latency, etc.) but won't always improve your speeds." They have also mentioned non-priority users won't experience any speed impact.
Advertising-wise, they are playing it safe, and this technically does NOT go against net neutrality as you are not using QoS.
However, I think TRAI might have something to say for it (Jio would want TRAI to do something about it.)

If TRAI does not do anything about it, I am sure Jio will follow suit with something similar, or they'll advertise as, "Unlike Airtel, we give you the best performance at all times, no discrimination."

As a user, I am against BW throttle plans. However, having better net experience for higher plan users is welcome.

There were several rumors about Jio to launch 5G priority plans ,and then suddenly Airtel jumps the race and launches it before Jio. Im pretty sure Jio does want to do the same as well ,since there network has a lot more capacity and can actually handle the load.

Also just like you ,i have the same opinion about priority if they dont harm prepaid users then why not

i guess the reason they haven't enabled priority on my sim is probably due to how bad airtel's network is in Mumbai

especially with heavy congestion locations

Forget priority for unknown reasons both of my airtel postpaid sims don't have SA 5g yet

Jio has the capability and capacity, but currently it lags behind Airtel and Vi in many places because Jio does not have enough coverage or consistent 5G speeds. A large number of users are connected to the same tower, which causes congestion.

I live near COK Airport, and there are only two towers within a range of around 1-2 km from my location. One of them provides 1 Gbps+ speeds during off-peak hours, around 1–3 AM. However, Airtel has many more towers nearby.

I have also raised several complaints with Jio regarding the poor network quality, slow speeds, and call drops. They even arranged for technicians to verify my concerns, and they agreed that the area has poor coverage. They said they would escalate the issue, but nothing has been done so far.
