This is in response to the lauch of BIG TV by Reliance. Now atleast the Government must take some measures for interoperability of viewing cards in STBs.

Comparing with big tv and TS the channel content, pricing, the cost and the experience of Sky, I belive in the long run in India TS is unbeatable. Still many channels are missing in big tv especially regional content if that comes definetly the cost of the channel content will increase. Personally for the next 1 year i am going to be with TS and Local cable twith SCV STB (CAS)

nothing is unbeatable. esp. when things are standardized. DTH tech is very standardized. and tweaking shud not be tough. so it wud be on marketing eventually. whoever does best marketing, wins. and reliance is already known to be good in that.

FYI

This price drop is nothing new,

They had a six month free subscription offer that is worth of 1.5 k,
They moved that price drop from the subscription offer to STB offer,

That's it, they are still milking money from us as before.

Unfortunately only few people where able to understand this new tactic.

TRAI is not propounding inter-operability, because, as per them, the cam module hardware is more expensive than the stb. We have to wait till there are more players and more demanding users.

Who so ever keenly watch dth segment marketing will definetly know this tactics.

seems Ts has started scared of competitors.. but gud for new TS customers,, and again TS has earned lot of money by selling it for 3000 till date ... nothing was given Free.. and TS knows in the begining itself a day will come where it has to reduce prices.. till then they were eating money from customers.. and now they will add new packages to gain more money which they loose in STB Discounts ,, also they may reduce the Quality of existing channels to add new ones to maintain the market ,

and all 6 months free subscription / multiroom free and all jingalala are all not exactly Free. now existing customers will be charged for any service they give.. even if a tech visits for any reason it may be charged. and they will definitely have new ways of making money to compensate the stb discount.

It's quite amazing to read that in this day n age you think you will not be paying for any service you receive. It's a simple rule, you use a service or call for a service, you PAY for it! It's something people have been doing abroad..in developed countries for years...rememeber we are striving to be that country! You might be too used to gettinfg cable wallah coming to your door step whenever u call him....but a lot of people are better off by nt dealing and haggling with these guys...also why do you feel the quality of channels will reduce just because they reduced the price of the box and they have to make that money in some way?? that's not a very logical route for a company like Ts but doesn't matter. As long as i get uninterrupted viewing ....and my channels clearly...i don't mind paying. that;s what all companies make you do...u dont pay ur mobile bill they charge you extra or disconnect......So bottomline nothing comes free in this world without a price!!

Nice 50% price drop! Now only if the soon to be launched PVR is offered at a low price!
