Broadband Speed Test

What do you think about the current speed war between ISP's in US? At&t launched 2 & 5 Gig few months ago & In a blog post they said they're ready for symmetrical 10 Gig residential (tried & tested).

Now they've successfully tried and tested 20 Gig for residential users. They show no sign of stopping. Will it impact us in any direct or indirect manner? Will India also move in the same direction or we're just going to stay at 1 Gig for many years ahead?

@havoc I dont have any plan for like last 7-8 months. Airtel is working for free with free static IP and free Internet. Its static IP trick that brings you 1gig speed, but I am sure speed will go 2-3Gbps if checked on a PC having 10gig support and ONT having more than 3-4 Gb support. Airtel OLT can not detect my link with them.

@Lolita_Magnum what about my pings to the servers I tested speed? Do you have to say anything about how airtel cant detect and freeze my connection.

Wait... You aren't paying for any plan or Static IP either? It's all free? I mean howwwww 🤔

I also want that 😁

We already have 1gig, but most consumers prefer using 30Mbps. So unless customers double down on their internet speeds, such speeds would be a long time now not just years.

@nishantt6969 I'm guessing you don't have PPPoE config? Other than that the only way to track a consumer usage is through MAC ADDRESS, which airtel doesn't. Plus since, you are a prepaid customer, chances are even more unlikely. It's airtel's incompetence at this point.

Yes both are free. Idk bro. I forgot the steps I followed that made it happen. 😅

Irony is max speed provided by airtel in my city is 300Mbps.

Share your WAN config, maybe we can try it here too.
Airtel has been pretty lax about its internet usage nowadays, I have been enjoying non-capped internet since day 1 now.
My monthly usage has tolled over 5TB/m.

I mean Jio should make 100 Mbps their base plan (I remember Ambani Ji promised 100 Mbps will be their minimum blah blah... Now see. I think 499₹ for 100 Mbps should be a thing ISP's should implement.
