13 kBps should not bother you.even they might have started taking mba graduates;) & they are not gonna change it. For me it shows 1999kbps.when u go to shopping mall wer u see cost of u r clothes to be 2999 not 3000.lolmight be some thing like that.

the problem here is that 4000kbps is not 4mbps.and the problem with speed is much bigger than what they are showcasing it to be.

yeah. i am not asking them to give me 512KBps all the time. but at least it should be possible from their own bloody servers? their own servers show a best of 3.2-3.4mbps.

there is a huge difference between 350KBps and 512KBps. i do not simply accept it as a loss in transmission.
Truth be told my average is about 360KBps when I'm downloading normally or surfing/streaming but I get a sustained 430KBps, give or take, when torrenting or using a download manager. I think its just BSNL's weird QOS and last mile network.

That s 80% of what TRAI says.

as i have already said. TRAI regulations is that 80% has to be delivered ALL THE TIME. it is the minimum speed that i should get from my connection. not the maximum.the worst part of dealing with bsnl has been (as expected) that they do not care about the competition. they do not care if you want their services or not. their attitude is more like... you have come to us which means that you have no other alternative. so get used to what you are getting.

switch to automatic modethe dns advantage which i gave u is very laggy but improves speed for me when I find bsnl own dns has problem.what s the complaint status???

dns is not going to change the speed when i am downloading something like ubuntu iso. i am talking here about the maximum speed i can get over a long period of time while downloading a large file. i can easily compare the speeds by switching between the airtel and bsnl cables. the difference is so significant that bsnl simply comes out as a miser service provider. :)
