Well, the only positive I can see is that you can probably switch to a low-end BSNL plan, and keep that as a backup, in case Airtel turns out to be better. Also 500 modem rental, is that one-time or annual? Because it was Rs.50 monthly if I remember correctly.

500 + 50 rupees monthly. 1100 for ownership. i opted for this because i want them to be responsible for the modem replacements even after one year period is gone. it's expensive but less headache i guess? :|

I am surprised at the upfront 500 fee. I thought it was never there. Or was needed only as a 50 p.m. annual alternate

i am surprised that they cannot charge these in the bill itself. they are charging the 250 rupee for the phone instrument in the bill. why not modem and connection?i guess they are tired of people applying for a new connection and not paying even the first bill :Di am hoping that the first two bills would be small in nature. first one should be zero and the second one should be smallish too. :\

great. the guy calls me now and claims that i gave him 100 rupees less. and he counted the money when i gave him. this just gets better and better.

Perhaps you can tell him you will settle for 170GB in the first month to cover the Rs 100 shortfall!!!

so bsnl wiring guys are here. the joint outside is pretty much left in the open. blah. not looking good so far. they do not install the wire internally. i would have to get it done myself. good stuff really.

MTNL has 500 upfront fee too...

man! i have that BSNL modem which i used for ~20 days before i switched to beam. I would have delivered it to you if you would pay only for delivery charges :| Its lying unused since 1 year. ADSL+2 modem it is.

lol. the guy said he would put in my application today so i should get the connection in a day or two max. now i am worried about the wiring part coz i can get airtel to do the wiring as per my requirement. bsnl? i doubt they would give a shit about my requirements. :|

Well BSNL atleast in my case wanted me to exactly tell them where to install the wires and they even left some 3~4mts extra wire incase i decided to move my PC to another location within the house.
