So its working for you now?

They had replaced my wiring and put thick cabling all underground in our colony about a year ago to avoid exactly these kind of frequent complaints... but I guess beyond/outside our colony the wiring is still vulnerable...

yeah hopefully its working fine now:thumbsup:

Post the screenshot of your modem's system log page after connection hangs. Don't use BSNL DNS. In your modem enter the openDNS values. Save+Reboot the modem.Looks like you have problem on your PC. Get spybot search and destroy. Update to latest definitions and then do a thorough scan. Likewise with Microsoft Malware removal tool.If using IE, upgrade to latest version of firefox and work with a new profile.

In the same place where you found the other values you posted in original post. Click around, there must be something resembling a "system log" that mentions at what time what activity (connection/disconnection) took place. Post a screenshot of that.

Also check that in ADSL tab you have selected G.dmt as essbebe mentioned. Uncheck others. Save+reboot the modem.

In your ADSL modem (192.168.1.1 or whatever) there will be a DNS tab too. Enter the values 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 then Save+Reboot the modem.

Let us know if things improve. You are using a signal splitter on telephone line, right? (BSNL provides with modem for free) And have you checked for malware as mentioned?
