Guys I have been waiting and waiting and waiting desperately for BSNL to unleash its new plans. If I am not wrong BSNL usually makes the new plans available to public on the republic day each year. So can we expect some new plans and the revision of the existing plans this republic day??By the way I am a Home1300 User (512kbps) and must say that BSNL's 512kbps plan is the costliest compared to any other service provider!! My friend has Airtel 512kbps for 900Rs!!, another friend has beam cable 512kbps for a mere 800Rs!! and another friend has hathway 512kbps for just 850Rs!!So my simple question is - Why should we pay the most although we are using a Govt service?? Are'nt the Govt services be cheaper than the private ones??Regards,NaveedHyderabad+91-9989660786

government services are usually cheaper because of the subsidies provided by the government itself. broadband is still not considered an essential service here in india so it is not really subsidized here. bsnl and mtnl both likes to milk their last mile connectivity and that is the reason why plans are not so competitive.

I'm not sure about the pricing of the private operators you are talking abou. But its a rule of thumb that, Public sector pricing are more cheaper than private sector. Not only price but also in terms of TRANSPARENCY. Still I doubt about the pricing. I think there must be some * (T&C) there. BSNL simply rocks !!!
