Hi Friends

I had an assembled PC which worked for around 7yrs old without any major hardware failures untill now :(
Only HDD changed and CD-writer upgraded to DVD-writer,SMPS replaced twice in these 7yrs!!!

Intel P4-2.4Ghz processor
Intel 845GVSR (original) motherboard
256MB Hynix RAM
160GB Segate SATA HDD (Bought 2 years back)
14" Samtron CRT monitor (Still working perfect without any issues)
Logitech MM Keyboard (PS/2..yes you heard it right...Not an USB)
Samsung optical mouse ( this one too PS/2 :D )
Samsung DVD-writer (bought 2 yrs back)
Mercury 440W speakers (sounds ok)
Zebronics ATX cabinet
Intex 440W SMPS (bought last yr)

Used the system (Windows XP SP2) for about 2-3hrs per day mostly for running java & .net programs, web browsing,ms-office,music & movies with occasional causal gaming like nfs underground, hit man series, cricket 07,gta vice city, halo, freedom fighters etc (Yeah I know these are quite old games and my system will not support beyond these)

This month processor, motherboard & RAM everything got faulty...oh god!!! So, I need to replace my PC.I wouldn't want to spend more than 7k...I don't need i3/i5 processors...just need basic system which supports my previous activities.

I'm thinking of going for AMD processor because of cost factor.Pls suggest best compatible motherboard, 2GB DDR3 RAM along with processor. In any case all the 3 components must not exceed 7k.So pls suggest me a combination which supports all my hardware,I mean everything which should be ready for future upgrade without any issues.Hope there will be individual warranties for every component!!!

Thnx in advance

Comes to around Rs. 9000. Of course these components could be cheaper in retail stores.
I hope..except RAM(2200) other components are cheap @ FK itself

2gb ddr3 ram will cost your 1400.
you can choose a mobo of msi or gigbyte within 3500, but i will suggest you to exceed of budget for mobo only, so that further upgrades remains possible, i think its important, so if your change your mood, i can tell you which one you should go for....
well processor comes according to that mobo or vice versa. but yeah amd is better option for saving money with performance......

Thanks for the replies guys...ok now I need some clarifications
1. I think sempron is new than athlon II x2..Is it a failed processor? Any reasons for selecting Athlon?
2. The Gigabyte MB you told..will it fit in my ATX cabinet...or should I need a new cabinet? I have seen some models Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2PT price so closely. Why 2 MB's at single price point? What's the exact difference?
3. Will this MB support my PS/2 mouse & keyboard.I have another IDE HDD & planning to use it.So will this MB have any IDE slot/cable ?
4. What are the possible upgrades w.r.t to processor & RAM (max.capacity supported)

Flipkart has no COD option for our town + takes 12 days to delivery..while everything is cheaper at snapdeal with COD + 4 days delivery
I went for few shops. All are suggesting (literally forcing) to go with Dual core 3rd gen processor + Intel DH61BF / DH61WW MB !!! Not even 1 suggested AMD :( All are saying they are having high failure rates!!! No one helping me to get the configuration I needed bcoz of loosing margins.
I prefer buying in shops, because of warranty issues. After I buy in shop,if any issue arises, I will call their technician, he will come & collect the defective piece, courier it to nearest service center, follow up with service center, tests at their lab upon return, comes to my home & re-tests the device in front of me & makes everything fine. All they charge for this is around Rs 100-150 for this (Non-AMC) This type of service will not be there if I purchase online since I live in a town,I need to carry to nearest city which involves time & money loss. So, every retailer gives standard specifications. We have no choice.More over I have seen they are giving just 1YR warranty on Intel boards while it is mentioned as 3Yr warranty on box :( If you ask for other configuration..they say we will not guarantee anything..we just sale, you need to follow up with service center on your own
Incase if I extend my budget to 9k Pls tell me what are the exact differences between DH61BF & DH61WW? Which one is best? Which AMD Processor + MB equivalent to (Intel Dual core + Intel DH61BF / DH61WW ) ?

Dealers usually stay away from AMD coz they don't get much support from them. Same experience everywhere.

Forget marketing team. Sellers do not get any support from their sales people. Basically, you buy an AMD at your own risk. Dealers would not take the risk of supporting it through them.

Agreed..so what's the next step if I go for Intel? As I told before they give only 1yr warranty :( Just look at my previous post
