At least no one called you a thief :D
Hopefully this would work for me next year whenever I decide to upgrade my machine :D

I decided to contact Customer Care to see what they say about shifting my license. I clearly said I have a retail Win7 & I upgraded to Win 8 and whats the process to migrate license. I got a reply which was ok to me as far as moving the license goes, but nevertheless, I am not sure about issues that I might fice or details I would require for them to be convinced its not pirated. Here is the response, in any case -

Lol . I guess they are asked to provide the information each time someone asks about activation or upgrade and they are just doing what they have been asked to

A sane company would have simpler instructions for their paying customers in 2013. Apple is kicking their ass with free OS upgrades. And they want me to follow these steps. No surprise PCs are a dying breed in consumer segment.

Right. I tried twice, on two different numbers. All behaved the same :pissed-off:
This is exactly what happened to me. 3 times in a row recently. All i did was to unplug/plug a couple of SSDs, add a new external HDD and unplug/plug a few phones. It killed my activation everytime, leading to the exact experience as android freak.

So I lost the activation 8 days after installing the SSD. Had to go through the same shit again. Indian toll free number behaved the same way as before. Skyped US Toll free twice to get it activated. What a pain in the a$$ :-/
