When you have a Galaxy Nexus, try other ROMs too. CM is probably my last choice for a custom ROM.Not that perforce oriented, there are several far better ROMs you can find.

What does the 'Device Manager' say? Any device with a question mark?
Did the installer say to enable 'USB debugging'?

adb driver issue.

I am dropping plans. I would have no idea what to do if something goes wrong.
Turning on USB Debugging was the first thing it asked me to do.

Most likely the drivers it is then. I too had to reinstall the drivers using the Toolkit as Windows 8.1 messed it up.

Once you have the drivers set, and assuming the installer actually works , you should be set
