Excitel Broadband Issues

Yo guys, so just a few days ago my city act & tata servers on Excitel started giving 14 ms ping (previously 2-3 ms) so I knew Excitel messed something up. As they always used tata transit, even on bgp site all their speedtest node ip's and my own ip's had only tata upstream. Even their PAN India ASN had tata only (also mumbai's auriganet ISP which they sold their Mumbai business to since 2025).

Anyways so all of a sudden the pings to my own city airtel server was 2-3 ms (usually 12-14 ms), so it all points out that they switched the upstream. Also the connection has been quite messy since the last 24ish hours with 2-3 second no response from the internet. Anyways now the Transit seems to give 12-14 ms to airtel, act & tata servers (basically 2-3 ms is directly rigged to my city servers, 12-14 ms goes to Delhi and comes back).

So to my network experts out there, can you suggest me trace routes or certain tools on pc or phone whatever to know exactly my traffic is flowing through. I know I can do a simple traceroute and look for each ip ASN and stuff but that's too boring these days, anything more adventurous? 😅

I've seen you guys using some advance tools which may go over the top of my brain but still something for noobie yet curious like me 😅.

Keep a note of those IPs during a good time and a bad one (via traceroute). If they are the same, then it's possible there's a fiber cut in the backhaul or bandwidth.

Congratulations to Excitel & their new CEO for ditching tata upstream completely and relying now solely on Airtel. Such an awesome thing to fund their own direct competitor and such a prominent telco in India, surely this will lead to more competition 🤩 :

Good to see that my pings to 8.8.8.8 and even my local speedtest servers have increased by 20-30ms 🤩. Who needs 2-10ms ping in 2026? Airtel should decide the rules 🤩.

Also people who praised Airtel and their one of the best upstreams in Indian telco history... Guys, was this really the experience you were praising for since so many years? I've never experienced airtel upstream myself, but now that I did along with multiple "internet not working" frustrations in a day... I can say that Airtel is truly a competitive telco in India 😂🤣. Also I love how the pings have spiked and traceroute results are going all over the country which on tata went directly to Delhi servers 😂🤣. (The trash upload speeds to all other speedtest servers & gdrive YT etc still remains prevalent, in fact it has decreased even further from 250ish Mbps to 120-140).

Great initiative by new CEO to kill Excitel for good hurray 🥳.

Strange! I am getting good pings now with excitel. Checked that they updated upstream to airtel.

No more shitty pings from tata upstream.

Ping to local speed tests is also reduced now, earlier i was getting 7-8 ms ping to local speed test servers and now its 4-5 ms.

Ping to london is also reduced.

This is Hyderabad location.

@unnecessary which location are you facing this issue ?
