Excitel Broadband Reviews

I got a pamphlet thrown into my house today. Hows the consensus on them? I was very surprised since MTNL was the only ISP providing service here. The pamphlet says 25 mbps unlimited for 1699 but in the back it says Double Speed Dhamaka this month and 1699 is written with the 50 mbps in the speedometer. So whats the catch? Considering I pay 2400 a month for 8 mbps with a 100GB FUP to MTNL, this seems like a much better option.

i am happy. there is 2-3% packet loss which means that it is not good for gaming. but apart from that it is fantastic. 1699 is now for 30mbps. 50mbps on peered services like google/Apple/microsoft/Hotstar etc.

double speed dhamaka was november and december. the brochures are old.

i suggest getting the 799 plan for a few months to sense the stability in your area. if it works fine, upgrade any month.

switch to the cheapest plan on mtnl for backup if you need 24x7 connectivity.

you do not get a public ip so if that's important excitel is not a good option for now as they are still not issuing static ip on demand.

Very good for regular web user and heavy download user. 50Mbps is the peering speed, the basic speed is 30Mbps on 1699.
There's total 80Mbps speed including peered speeds on Torrents, etc. on 1699 plan.

I am getting 40Mbps in healthy torrents 20Mbps@ 799...

though not much of a downloader but it is quite convenient to get the downloands quickly.....

another pointer for manu... the prices are inclusive of taxes :D and it's prepaid. you just recharge it like a prepaid sim card.

Neat

everything seems good. I am not an online gamer so packet loss is not an issue for me. With 4G rates so low, I guess I can keep that as a backup, But I guess ill get the 1159 plan initially and see, if it is good, then ill switch to 1699. Going to retain MTNL at least for a couple of months.

BTW their peering works on torrents also? they have mentioned only youtube, Hotstar and the app stores on the brochure. Does it only work on public trackers or private also?

And is it actually FUP free? Like even if I use 150-200GB? PS4 game updates eat up like 50-70GB/month

Can anyone posts the speed they get on fast, com?

i am not sure how peering works on torrents. but i am guessing you would get the peered speeds from seeds who are also on excitel. in addition to regular speeds you get from non-excitel users. so if you end up getting both, you could get 50+30 on the top plan as mentioned by another user. i have seen speeds touching 4MBps on my 20/20mbps plan which comes to around 32mbps.

it has been fup free for me. one user did post about his account getting throttled. but no one else has reported any throttling. my usage has ranged from 700-800GB per month but folks here have crossed 1TB. you can of course download a lot more. but 200GB is nothing to worry about.

fast.com speeds are not consistant as there is no peering with netflix. i have seen speeds ranging between 2mbps during the initial days when there were lots of uptime issues to 15mbps. right now i am seeing 3.6mbps on netflix. on second attempt it touched 6.4mbps. i cannot say for sure if you would be able to watch uhd content. someone else might be able to answer that. on my pc where chrome is restricted to 720p, i have had no issues.

did another test.
