that's one way of looking at it. but at least 3-5 years for god sake. this is one reason why i do not like lcd/led/whatever TVs. i had an old fashioned CRT before i stopped watching it altogether. Dell displays have a three year warranty and i know how much shit i have to go through. 3 years is the life of the display not the warranty. because i get a replacement when shit goes wrong and it does.

LCD/LED monitors get 3 yrs warranty. Whereas TV's just get 1 year warranty including the monitor TV:cursing:. Is it bcoz it has a built in TV tuner & speakers? Monitors might be used even 24 hrs/day but we wont use TV 24 hrs right?

I was also happy with my 20" CRT that was quite old, I think 8 years old. Kept it running with board changed over and over, but this time the tube itself died out. So had no choice but to get one and getting a brand new CRT is not available so much, so went in for a cheap 32" Toshiba..

yeap. CRTs have more or less disappeared. 29" models are hard to find. the few options available are crappy ones. they have literally made it impossible to get one as they push you to get the more expensive LCDs which have a shorter shelf life.

Computer monitors are more expensive. Even if you plan to use your LCD/LED tvs as monitors using HDMI cables, you won't get good quality.

Monitors are for graphics and more designed for stationary display, like browser, files & docs.
A movie will look much better however on a LCD TV than on a computer monitor.

Plus the size restriction, monitors usually don't go over 27" and extreme cases 30" , because then it would be out of your field of view ( No sense in having to turn your neck right to see the task bar time and turn left to see the start button)
There's also distance restrictions on monitors, Usually monitor is not more than half or 1 meter away from you, so it has a dimmer LED lights in back than a TV,

The TV LED/LCD, however are champion for moving images like TV & Movies and will perform best in moving images, but will suck in stationary images and graphics, plus they are designed to be away from you about 10 meters usually, So we having the 42 55 & 60-70 inch displays for TV.

:P :) :P
