Computer monitors are more expensive. Even if you plan to use your LCD/LED
tvs as monitors using HDMI cables, you won't get good quality.
Monitors are for graphics and more designed for stationary display, like browser, files & docs.
A movie will look much better however on a LCD TV than on a computer monitor.
Plus the size restriction, monitors usually don't go over 27" and extreme cases 30" , because then it would be out of your field of view ( No sense in having to turn your neck right to see the task bar time and turn left to see the start button)
There's also distance restrictions on monitors, Usually monitor is not more than half or 1 meter away from you, so it has a dimmer LED lights in back than a TV,
The TV LED/LCD, however are champion for moving images like TV & Movies and will perform best in moving images, but will suck in stationary images and graphics, plus they are designed to be away from you about 10 meters usually, So we having the 42 55 & 60-70 inch displays for TV.
