Guidance on purchasing a top load washing machine!

so the LG front load has become a pain. too much vibration and moves around. got lg guy and he did the realignment and stuff. and said that if it still moves around, he would need to change legs and gasket. that visit cost me around 1000 bucks and the two parts he suggested would add another 4-5K. i am not really interested in spending 5K more on this machine. though it is barely 4 years old. i have already been running the rinse cycle at 800rpm since i got it because of the moving around issue. the realignment did not really solve the problem as it still vibrates a lot. lg folks really do not like opening up the machine to see if internals are damaged or anything. or maybe on direct drive, there is really nothing to replace except for the whole drum? anyways.

planning to get a basic top loader this time around. should cost <20K and should do the job. haven't used one in a long time so not sure what i am getting into. just looking for some guidance on why top loaders are not good and why they are probably good. i would again probably get a lg model. known devil in the end. if there is another brand i should consider, do mention that as well.

i imagine top loaders do not tend to move around a lot during the rinse cycle. vibrations are going to be there

heh. do not try to wash a double sized comforter in a top load (front loads are probably worse) washing machine unless it is industrial sized (12KG maybe) lol. the machine really struggled and in the end all the dirt floated at the top and got stuck there as rinsing cycle just did not have enough space to wash it away.

heh. crazy lint problem on this model. magic filter is shit. i am very tempted to dump this and get a Bosch front loader.

I bought a LG top load washing machine with 9 Kg limit in Jan 2025, costed around 23k with stream wash, direct drive and all that bs. I agree it vibrates a lot in the spin cycle when I turn on the "strong wave" mode.
I have washed a double sized comforter multiple times and it does the job perfectly.
I feel the wash quality is pretty good even with modern top loads. In my 17 year old lg top load which was recently exchanged for a new one, the wash quality was pretty bad and it was the reason I decided to discard it. I didn't opt for front load because my parents are old and they have a bit of problem bending and leaning over, also they are used to the old style of top load washing machine.
Bosch front loaders are pretty expensive and somehow I don't trust a german company for mechanical reliability. If something goes wrong with it, it would probably burn a hole in your pocket. Do check their after sales service as well.
LG is pretty solid in this department. I never had any issues with their support team.

so yeah. i filed a complaint with samsung. the call back i got was not very nice. the guy just kept on saying that i am doing something wrong. i should do this. i should do that. i got angry and just told him to send a tech and i would pay the charge etc. and cut the call. he did register a complaint. service guy called. i told him to bring a new filter. he did. also did a basic cleaning of the drum and under the impeller. the replacement filter has a much better design with metal mesh. machine came with a filter with plastic mesh that got choked when i washing my mouse pad in the machine lol. it seems to be doing much better for now. but i am doing regular cotton washes. problem usually starts when i wash towels or bedsheets. overall, it's ok for now.
