A co-operative bank where I have an a/c gave me a Rupay inspite of filling a VISA debit card application forn. When I pinged them on Twitter they asked me to go to my branch to get my VISA card

Right. Promise yourself that you would use it as a debit card. Only buy stuff that you can pay for right away from your bank account.

Credit card can be a good thing if you can manage your debt correctly.

Sadly, this isn't the case correctly since ..well you know..schools don't teach you how to write a cheque or opening up different types of bank accounts.

i still have to check my cheques multiple times before i drop it in the box. thankfully i do not have to deal with them much because pretty much everything is online these days.

Yup. Had no idea we have to get our physical passbook updated because the day I got my account, i opened playstore, searched for the bank app and downloaded it thinking thats the only to check passbooks in this age.

passbooks by private banks is a recent thing. yes bank still does not offer it. i got one from icici bank when it was made available. it's pretty good to have one as you have permanent access to all your bank statements. no need to find old mails with statements or printouts or saved copies on the computer. though it does not solve one problem for me :D abbreviations used by banks. it's insane that some transactions do not even mention the name of the person/entity for the payment received/delivered.
