I have been using the latest version of SHAPLUS BSNL broadband usage tool since March and find it very indispensable since i am on a limited usage plan - BBG FN 600. It was working great until yesterday, but since then i am getting a "object variable or with block variable not set" error message and I am unable to see the reports, charts and the summary details of my usage. I have checked the "enable cache" box and can access all details stored in the cache upto 28-6-2011.

I will be grateful if anybody can throw light on this matter.

try NetworX from softperfect.com
will check Shaplus and update later.
mention your usage portal data.bsnl.in or any of the four selfcare portals.

@essbebe, Thanks for your reply, I like to elaborate here

-Have been using NetworX since the beginning along with Shaplus.
NetworX is great for real time usage statistics but has no option to segregate
the 2AM-8AM Night time free usage from the charged usage.

Actually it has !!, just needed to play around with the settings, here is how it works
Go to settings ->Advanced -> Set the boxes which correspond to time 2 to 2.59
through 7 to 7.59 against the week as unmetered (will try to post some images later)
and On Peak for the rest and press Apply -> OK

Next go to quota ->Setup -> select Monthly/All Traffic/Hours Flat rate/MB/ from
the drop down menus, enter the monthly limit(2560 MB as per my plan) in the
allowance box and press ok and VOILA you are set up.

Now the usage display shows only the usage statistics for the On peak hours
i.e the charged usage which you can monitor and control.

-Shaplus was providing me with charts, reports and summary of the
balance free bandwidth available for the remaining days of the month which i
think was a great tool in monitoring the usage.

I think the BSNL portal has added an extra column showing the account no,
user id and the total usage which is yet to be updated by the Shaplus tool,
leading to the error display.

-Right now i can find the usage statistics through
BSNL Portal
, as and when it gets updated, relying on NetworX for instant updates.

So is there any other bandwidth monitoring tool which can help me in
managing my limited usage plan until Shaplus can be fixed?

As far as the BSNL selfcare portals, i noticed that it is not available for
Bangalore BSNL telecom users, so that option is ruled out for now as
you can see below from the karnataka telecom website

BSNL, Karnataka

"Web self care provides the facilities for viewing ,printing bills and make Land line bills
payment online and this can be accessed through
CRM for all SSAs except BGTD. "

PS:As a stop gap arrangement i found that i can use SHAPLUS' own Bandwidth meter 1.3
which has the option of excluding night unlimited usage from the total usage for a month.

ShaPlus Bandwidth meter - Free bandwidth monitoring software

Post updated with some of the answers i found for my own questions

Good post.
Shaplus/DataFox/NetworX/ Tautology Bandwidth Meter are the most
used FREE applications to monitor Bsnl BB usage.
The four selfcare portals ndc sdc wdc edc :
DATAFOX or Shaplus. will not work. Shaplus gives error as mentioned by you.
(I tried in Windows 7 Professional )

As your usage PORTAL is data.bsnl.in DATAFOX with ( Firefox or Chrome browser)
will be an ideal substitute.

Regarding DATAFOX, i assume here we are talking only about the data used when we use the particular browser, Firefox or Chrome in this case. But we have to account for numerous other programs, software and applications on our PC which consume bandwidth like OS and antivirus updates, Online games, other browsers like Opera, Safari, Torrents etc etc. So something like NETWORX which monitors the usage on a real time basis would be more preferable. By the way, is there any chance the creator of SHAPLUS software for BSNL might update his tool?

No, Datafox simply fetches data from data.bsnl.in. So it will include your complete usage as available at your portal. It is just that it is made as a browser extension than a stand alone software. As far as Shaplus and Datafox serving the self care portals, the authors do not have ID and password of the corresponding portals to code it into the existing app. You can very well use their " Contact us " section and send them your ID and password so that they can add support to those self care portals.

10.240.43.216 and login its easiest way !
sure. but list the number of steps before you finally see your usage.
Firefox shows you the data above task bar. ( for Firefox and Chrome users)
For example my portal : data.bsnl.in ( browser :Aurora 6.0a2)
( access it mostly for replying to forum users' queries)

Selfcareportal users edc/ndc/wdc/sdc Datafox not modified.
