Dear essbebe, sorry friend, it seems that I have messed up the issue, so you are getting confused. I just try to simplify it. Forget about the Kappa connection. Presently I am using the BSNL BB through the USB port, but I want to use it through my Ethernet card(Realtek Rtl-8139d PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter). Please let me know how can I do it, because simply connecting the ZXDSL 831AII to the ethernet card through the RJ45 doesn't works.

go to your modem configuration page(open 192.168.1.1 and type admin as username and password).. check if DHCP is enabled or not!!

Dear Friends, thanks for all your responses. By hit and trial the problem got solved. The problem was with the RJ45 cable. May be the cable I was using earlier was having different cable terminal configuration. As that cable worked well with my other connection I didn't doubt on it earlier. Thanks to you all again.

All RJ45 cables have the same connections to connect to Ethernet port of computer.
Don' try too many "Hit and Run" methods. computer may be damaged !!!!!

from what i've understood, you want to be able to use both ISP connections, but ONE AT A TIME. correct?

if so you can configure both modems in gateway mode, with NAT enabled. for BSNL link you need to configure your modem as described here:

Configuring the modem for BSNL Dataone service

then just change the default route setting on your PC to the LAN address of whichever modem you want traffic to go thru.

using both connections SIMULTANEOUSLY is another story, and on linux you will need to use the "ip route" command (advanced IP routing...) to the best of my knowledge.
