Zaheer Khan has been recalled to the India Test squad for the forthcoming tour of South Africa. Zaheer is part of a five-man pace attack for the two Test series, and the only newcomer to the 17-member squad is the batsman Ambati Rayudu. However, there was no place for the opener Gautam Gambhir, despite scoring a century for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy days before the selection meeting.
I guess my thinking matched more -
No Gambhir because they felt Rahane, Pujara are there. Saha as backup keeper. Ojha as backup spinner.
17 members for two tests and Rayudu is a surprise selection though.

Well, Rayudu is not a full time keeper. He is ok for T20 and to backup if main keeper is injured during the match.
Picking Jadeja in the Playing XI might be a mistake & I would go for Rahane than pick Jadeja, as I feel need a more genuine batsman than someone who can bat a bit and will be underused or not as effective with the ball there.

Well, he is not going to be part of the opening XI (hopefully) in both Tests & ODIs. But his continued selection does baffle one.
How come Vinay who was picked when Dhawal was injured for games v WI is not there. I suspect he may play in the 3rd ODI and do well :pleasantry:

:suicide:
It will be a no brainer if Zaheer is not in the playing 11.. He is in good form and I just hope that he doesn't get injured in this short series.

Ill be glad if India can score a atleast 200 once in the 4 innings they will be playing ..
The first and foremost question is can they take 20 wickets?

I believe that our fast bowlers will do well in South Africa. We may see outstanding performances by some of our bowler. Our fast bowlers do well on SA, Aus, England pitches, and their performance abroad can't be compared with Indian pitches.
Whoever gets selected in playing XI should grab opportunity and perform well.
