Internet is fast, but wifi speed is slow

Hi,

I have 100Mbps connection and I am getting promised speed.

But wifi speed is slow. When I connect through wifi I am getting 30Mbps. But when connect through LAN, I am getting full 100 Mbps.

How to fix?

My Router is Huawei

Check if you can change the WiFi wireless mode(a/b/g/n), do change and check speed and settle with one where you get good speed.

Is it specific to me ? or anybody else having this problem?.. Wifi is connected more than 10 devices. Connected more than 10 devices but internet is used by only one device. Even in that condition, I get 30Mbps speed. Is there any speed quota for each device? or max spped per device?

its a general solution, go to router web interface, change wifi channels and make sure its set to 20/40Mhz instead of 20Mhz

If I buy AC router, how it connects to BSNL FTTH Modem? through LAN cable?

The ONT modem is already setup and I am getting connection.. Do I have to set up router with BSNL credentials? or just connecting to modem will do?

If you can afford that then go for the C80.

There are two ways of setting up the router:

1. Double NAT: Connecting LAN Port of ONT (Huawei) to WAN of router. This is simple and requires no setup. You can use DHCP option on your C80 and itll simply get the IP from Huawei. However, the problem is port forwarding will be tougher as you have to forward ports both on the Huawei and new Router. Performance could also be affected due to extra layer of NAT.

2. Bridge Mode: You could put Huawei in bridge mode and let new router handle routing, pppoe and everything. Should be better as TP-Link router has more powerful CPU. Also, extra NAT layer will be avoided. But this does require more configuration.

Option 2 seems better. Is there any tutorial on how to configure with bridge mode? If I choose bridge mode, do I have to call BSNL to bind MAC address of router?

I think this is what should be done.. But any tutorials or guides?

MAC address binding may not be necessary.. Right?

You should be able to clone Mac from Huawei if it doesn't work.

Try without cloning first

Double NAT method has noticeable performance issue? I just need fast WIFI. Double NAT maybe good enough? So I can get rid of configuring..
