I have a JCO300 JIO router since 2019 but now it is giving issues like unable to broadcast SSID and heating issues.

I asked JIO to replace the router but they are asking INR 799 to replace it.

Is it fine or should they replace it for free adn the ONT device is owned by JIO and with ONT, they can't provide the service.

Has anybody else changed their router by JIO?

It depends whether your place is applicable where problems arise that damages the router such as frequent electricity cut, sudden voltage increase, dips, spikes, grounding/earthing issue etc

If they have strong evidence that the router got damaged from your side then they could use the security deposit and to change ask for replacement fee

Although possible to switch to another ont but the process is frustrating especially getting the GPON serial number which required jio ont to be working condition and replacing with another jio ont also does not work as they are either completely bind or hard coded to change the serial number. Also a good ont and router is required to handle the load I am using TP-Link ont {since aug 2024) and xiaomi be5000 (since nov 2024) and it work really well

Personal experience: I also got my jio ont router suddenly dead around 2023 raise a complaint on the app and technician came with replacement router. Got replaced for free.

It really depend on the area and the service provider that affects after sales services
