I have used JioAirfiber for a year since 10th of November 2023 as I unfortunately took their annual plan and it was the worst experience I've ever had. I had no choice as my society doesn't allow wired internet and there was no other wireless ISP other than Jio at that time.
In the first four months it had so many issues router was basically unused for a month. In rain their outdoor unit splitter shorted out every time and I had to call them frequently, finally I suggested them to place it under some cover so that it won't happen again.
Next, their 30mbps plan hardly gets that speed on most sites, especially on GitHub which I frequently use. Also, 4K videos should play without any issues at that speed but they still buffered. Videogame latency was really unstable with constant packet loss, I know it is a wireless connection and I shouldn't expect much out of it but even my Vi sim provided more stable ping.
I faced another issue where the wireless AP of the router turned off automatically and I wasn't able to turn it back on as their app is buggy. Even the operators couldn't figure it out, they even changed the router but the wireless AP still turned off automatically. I had to somehow figure it out myself where after hard resetting the router I had to uninstall both MyJio and JioHome app, login via Jio website and turn on my SSID from there and never login back again. I couldn't even check my data usage as whenever I logged in the AP turned off. After a few months they fixed it by rolling back router software.
After 4-5 months of pain, their connection was finally a bit stable as in it didn't completed went down. In the end I still had game ping issues, 4K video playback buffering and website download speed issues which they could never solve as Jio is incompetent. Even when my mobile Jio 5G was working fine their AirFiber used to be down.
During the last days of recharge they tried to ask me to pay according to my billing cycle of 16th Nov and said you cannot close connection without paying the due and it is not possible, however I declined as I had already asked other customer care person who wasn't cunning whether it is possible to close the connection according to the money I have paid and not the billing cycle (you can). If someone didn't knew this they would have made them pay the bill according to the cycle. They try very hard to get you to pay and stay with them, they even tried sending a technician as I was going to close my connection due to their issues and try to resolve it.
In the end I terminated their connection as Airtel's AirFiber plan was now available in my area, I have had it since a few days so I'll review it after some time.
The only thing I would miss about Jio is their OTT packs as airtel barely has any good OTT packed with their plan. Other than that Airtel's internet and STB (Android with play store) is clearly better than Jio. Even Airtel's router has better range than that of Jio with smaller size. My WIFI 6 devices catch better range and speed with Airtel router compared to Jio's bulky useless router.
So if you need WIFI just to watch OTT and don't need DTH then Jio is viable as their internet is only capable of playing highly compressed media on Hotstar. Other than that if you need to use WIFI for work, gaming or just downloading then you must consider other ISP's. In the end JioAirFiber was a rushed product just so they could be first in the market and due to their issues they have left a bad taste in early adopters. I had raised a complaint almost every month about something. I had previously used Tata Play Fiber 100 Mbps for almost a year with 6 people and only had one downtime for a few minutes for their planned maintenance for which they informed me beforehand. On the other hand there is Jio.
End of rant.
