I just sent an sms "Port Mobile Number" to 1900 and got a reply that MNP is not yet launched for your service area. I am with airtel, karnataka. Also mentioned - sms to 1900 is chargeable.

Probably fooling customers and earning till MNP is officially announced.

i am not sure if TRAI requires this SMS to be free (i think it should be)... anyways, the situation is pretty clear. MNP does not arrive before january 20. and if you are sending an SMS for this service, you are making a mistake!

with 2 days remaining, it is probably too late to delay again. usually the delays were announced a lot of days ahead. and with almost all mobile companies running MNP related ads, i believe that they are prepared for it no matter what!

Now I really need other user's experiences.Want to shift from Airtel to Voda.Airtel (Prepaid) is getting expensive day by day.

Start a new thread! I guess we should now have threads describing each operator in individual cities!?

Now I really need other user's experiences.

Want to shift from Airtel to Voda.

Airtel (Prepaid) is getting expensive day by day.

What service you finding expensive?

Well. . .they have some cheaper plans like special 5 service
Airtel : Re 1 per day = Rs 30 per month
Vodafone: Rs. 15 per month

GPRS plans:
Airtel : 30p/20 KB
Vodafone : 10p/10Kb

And Vodafone cards for various schemes (not e-recharge,to-ups) are easier to find than airtel (at least in my area).

Though, I guess airtel had a better network coverage than vodafone.
Don't know about the current status.
