Hi anant,

actually it s all about singal strength.. here in my home town (Tirupathi, AP) its 98 % hence speeds are touching 5 to 6 MBPS range. They recently upgraded to 7.2 mbps tower. Where as in chennai, my near by tower is only shows 50 % strength so i will get max of 3 mbps at chennai...

I just downloaded file having 30 mb finished 30 seconds...:)
 
I've observed a strange thing. As soon as I move indoors or even under a bridge or even a shed for that matter, basically anywhere where is a roof or obstruction above, the signal strength reduces drastically. Is this issue specific to me or is it common to MTNL ?
 
Since 3G signal is 2100Mhz, it cannot penetrate our brick and cement walls. Where as 2G signal which is 850/900 Mhz can penetrate better. Hence 2G coverage is always better than 3G.It's a technology limitation which can only be overcome by installing more towers.
 

maybe sit on the road then when using MTNL 3G then :P or park when ever possible :D
