Anyway, my downstream profile has increased to 8192 kbps and upstream to 2048 kbps.Speed test is giving me 7.5 Mbps Download speed and 1.7 Mbps Upload speed. Finally job done. Thanks to everyone who helped with the support numbers.

I am using own Wifi modem. Asus DSL-N10S.This modem is pure class. Never drops a connection and even the WiFi does not need reboots after few days.It holds line rock steady at least on 2 Mbps. Let's see how it holds connection at 8 mbps speeds.I am more than 1 km away from the exchange. But the line statistics have shocked me and even MTNL engineers. Its that good. Maybe it's a newly laid line. I will post modem statistics page soon.

@mumbai78
did ur speed get updated?? maybe I missed some posts inbetwn...... I think u were the first one to apply......
@Sanket
After modem stats, pls post tracerts to usual servers in mumbai..... then UK...... and then US too....... specially (216.52.241.254)..... am getting 287ms here on UL1333
Also since this is ADSL..... I dont think u will run into timeouts here.....

I rang 12540 yesterday, they said they made the changes and asked me to restart the modem. The speeds were around 4 mbps for 5 minutes and then the net went dead.Logged a complaint today, the technician rang me and said it was probably a line fault. Have not heard back.
