^^ Timeouts occur usually a day after the rains. But my SNR Margin has already dropped from 29 dB to 21 dB.I will keep an eye on VDSL connection and update you guys.

Finally after days of complaining and sending emails i ran a speed test and its really reached 8mbps!

It's been 15 days since I applied for this plan. I'm starting to think all my efforts ever since were in vain, as my speed shows no sign or any willingness to increase. See, I tried all MTNL numbers which exist and have been told the same - to wait an hour while they tend to their business. I, even resorted to calling this number provided on this forum - 12540 - and have been rendered an identical response. I wonder if this is the best this country can achieve.

So I finally made up my mind to use the Rs. 990 plan giving 28GB at 8mbps. I would like to confirm a few things again:
- Extra installation charges?
- Wireless modem charge will remain Rs. 50 per month or will it increase?
- Approximately how many days does it take for the 2048 downstream line to be migrated to the new speeds?

-No extra installation charges. (If your line is capable of handling speeds of 8 Mbps without Line bonding) Otherwise you have to pay upfront for line bonding modem as well as installation of 2nd line.
-It will be as per the website.
-It's a mixed experience. Most guys here including me had to get that done manually by calling 12540.

Ohh by the way, timeouts have returned. But not as much. I got 1 timeout in the whole day today. So 1 thing is clear. VDSL is extremely sensitive to rains and moisture. It's not that annoying but it means that something messes up my line.

Its so sad. The way we struggle for eking out a few mbps of speed when you get crazy speeds in the developed world. Check this out...
