MTNL Broadband: 8mbps Plans

Download a simple file like google chrome offline setup. If you still do not get around 800 kBps on it, then you have a problem. Try using a download accelerator like IDA, IDM and then see. Sometimes servers you are downloading from are severely capped. Especially the ones which host movies or whatever.

After the profile change to 6D/2U, still the only 10 hr session I get is through the night. Evenings, about 6-7 PM I face max disconnections lasting up to 10 minutes (i.e. no sync at all).

I thought the 8817 was for short-distance lines with high SNR?

My SNR is now fluctuating between 6.3 when the disconnections happen vs 14 (right now)

It would be worth to invest in TP-Link TD8817 ADSL modem.

With the D-Link DSL 2750U, AND the reduced speed profile to 6D/2U, the modem is able to hold 10 hr sessions (as seen on the MTNL portal) with g.dmt modulation. This looks decent now. Less than 2-3 disconnects happen at the worst time these days.
