While MTNL has thankfully changed my port and solved all my problems(YouTube, Timeouts)..... I still decided to checkout my local cable internet for trial.....

ISP Name : SNeT ...... but provided by Local Cable guy

Website : None.... But can check usage Here

Plan : 8Mbps Unlimited

Cost : Rs.1000/-

FUP : None

Requirement : Router with Ethernet PPPoE.... so my existing TP-Link W8970 worked perfectly.

Special Features : YouTube Caching(5-6MBps).... BTCaching(2-3MBps).... Even Cache of Windows Updates... Sony Vaio Updates... League of Legends Updates... etc.

SpeedTest :

Torrent Speeds :

DC++ : Havent checked this out yet...

Comments : Looks good..... Doesnt disconnect until router is turned off.... speed consistent throughout the day...... But while watching Cached content there can be packet loss experienced on other services.... like online gaming.... which is annoying:mad:....

Hi Panzer.. could you please provide the number of your Cable guy. Even I am interested in this 8Mbps plan

Damn panzer! IN mumbai? coz in navimumbai there is dvois. 20mbps for 10000 a year. legit speeds.

Frustrated with MTNL< after router replacement still dropping every hour approx., but better than before.

Entry level ADSL WiFi routers are now cheap.

If you are sure your router will last long - go for self owned.

I switched to self owned router about 1 year late - but I would not blame MTNL for it.

Last one year MTNL gave me free replacement 2-3 times but as someone already pointed out - they dont last long.

Finally I bought own router.

hi I stay in Vile parle west, n I want to switch to 8mbps plan from my current 2mbps plan, these are my router stats, please suggest.

SNR margin: 31.6db downstream and 17.6db upstream
attenuation: 32.9db downstream and 22.1db upstream
data rate: 2047kbps downstream and 509kbps upstream
max rate: 19424kbps downstream and 1347kbps upstream

I'm about to take MTNL Triband connection in Mumbai. The 8 Mbps plans seem good.
Did you guys pay Rs.4000 as CPE charges while switching to 8 Mbps plan?
I have a TP-Link TD-W8951ND ADSL 2+ wireless router. Is this router capable of carrying 8 Mbps speed?
Or should i opt for 4 Mbps plan?
Please note that i stay around 6 Km away from the exchange.
Please reply.

8 or 4 mbps - 6km away from exchange is probably not feasible.

Unless they have fiber line till near your residence
