they already checked that... i took my modem to the exchange MDF and the snr and line attenuation were very good... speed test also showed good result...they have checked the line and also diverted the line but still no luck... dont know what else is left to check...
Connect the modem at the junction box itself if you can, and see the SNR etc. If there also you are not getting good reading then........Just bad luck then.

@kartoonz
Chk if the 4Mbps is stable...... if ur happy with it then keep it..... OR
If its possible take a new landline number using the 8Mbps Combo plans...... so it will be rent free & u will only use it for net....... u'll get new line wiring..... so tht line will not hav any problems......
I did the same thing at my uncle's place....... his net on 2Mbps was dc'ing every 5mins....... tried everything to fix it but no use....... but now with new line he is running 8Mbps plan with ease....... improved stats & stability..... zero dc's
SNR improved a lot for him..... earlier on old line it was only 11-12db....... new line always gave more than 21db.....
Taking new line is costly..... with Rs.500 installation charges(Booking) + Rs.1000 over 2 months period in bill

so if i get a new connection then it will be new wiring right? but the question is, will the new wiring be from the junction to my house? the gdm had told me that that had changed the line as well... is there a difference between the two?

Get a new connection for broadband only. Do keep existing line so that they dont give you broadband on current line.

should i ask for a rebate...?? the thing is i have managed to use 55gb despite the severe issues... and will manage to use the rest of the 30gb in the next few days...lol...
I will speak to them about a new BB connection... I also spoke to the AM @ bandra exchange and he said that line bonding is not required for 1.5km range...which is a good thing...

@kartoonz - line bonding not required. My wire length is ~ 2.7-3.0 kms and I get a steady 6.5-7 Mbps on the speed. Stats below (poor stats, I know, but just about enough)
SNR is usually about 6.1, it goes up to 12 only at night/early mornings. Does that mean some device interference?

I was testing ping to 3.10 and notice the Request timeout once or twice in between, do you guys get a continuous ping? Or is this normal?

have no issues with speed though

^^^
Yes I get timeouts like tht once in a while(1-2 in 3pgs of ping)....... doesnt affect me much....... plus I play online a lot..... still it doesnt do much...... hardly get 1sec lag ingame at tht point....... but rest is smooth......
Downloads nvr seem to stop for timeouts...... they just barrel thru to the end on 8Mbps.......

I had disconnection issues earlier when I was connected to my office VPN that time there used to be 10-15 timeouts and the whole process of reconnecting vpn used to take 5 mins again, was very irritating. they have claimed that they have resolved issue from prabhadevi so I was testing ping but noticed these one or two timeouts once in 2 pages so was wondering. Thanks for your input !
